Warpborn Skinwalkers Prowl out of Privateer Press!
October 5, 2012 by brennon
Check out these upcoming additions to the Circle Orboros faction in Privateer Press's Hordes. The Warpborn Skinwalkers are a deadly pack and a great addition to your force!
This unit will be available from October 24th and in awesome plastic too! I love the one in the middle, howling away at the top of his voice. Some awesome werewolf based monsters that could also work as brilliant Gnolls in Dungeons & Dragons!
Will you be picking these up for Circle Orboros?
I think the comparison to Gnolls is genius, I really like these models, very dynamic and aggressive looking things.
Gnolls who are twice the size of a regular human….
I liked the metal models… This looks like it’s the same sculpt.
I think they could have been re-done, but I would be happy nonetheless if they’re not : The old sculpt was very good indeed !
It’s like most PP metal rereleases. It’s basically the same sculpt, but it all fits together better than the metal minis did (better joint design and less warping of the parts outside of the mold, which PP tends to be really bad about). I think PP does resin really well, even if reposing their resin kits usually takes more work. I’ll take their resin kits over their metal ones every time.
They look cool.
I keep looking at these but I can’t see why they would be played over tharn ravagers especially with access to their UA’s and heart eater boosts. Higher armour in warmahordes has always been meh due to the similarity in the attack/damage generation combined with the disparity in the relevant stats. Or in laymans terms why are MAT/RAT values half that of P+S values? If they were on par then DEF14 would be as good as ARM14 but it’s not. It’s far preferable to boost damage over attack because the aim is to kill things not to hit things. Therefore… Read more »
PP s resin output does keep the price down on their range and is a improvement for the Hacjs and large war beasts, wish they had better quality control though as mould lines are difficult to remove on it
True… Well, it’s nothing like the problems Failcast had, though.
Love the optomistic ‘had’ past tense there Romain 🙂 As far as I can see it still has and seeing the sky high price for the Chaos Space Marines coming out today clearly there is little but open contempt from GW to its customers.
I struggled at first with PP resin but found if you use a really sharp blade and some care they clean up very nicely and go together like a dream. Love my Cyrx figures and still looking forward to getting my Hoardes battle box…..
I have these models – They are really nice and the detail is good. My big complaint is that there are only 3 sculpts – 2 of the models are copies. This is a bit deceptive in the picture.
It doesn’t change the way they play and they still look good, but I think its a bit lazy.
Yeah, it’s a common feature for PP, alas…
I’m a Trollblood myself, but those would make outstanding “civilized” gnolls or werewolves for my Pathfinder game.
