Warhammer Gets a Little Bit More Waaaaagh!
June 11, 2012 by brennon
As well as all this joy over the release date of Warhammer 40,000 being announced there was also some additions and changes to the Warhammer line as well. Check out the models below from Games Workshop...
First up are this pair of Greenskins. The Savage Orc Big Boss is a suitably mighty individual and certainly looks like he can meat out the pain. On the other end of the spectrum is the rather diminutive Goblin Shaman who while not as dynamic as the Savage Orc still holds a certain air of malice and power.
Here are a selection of the other models on Advance Order that went Finecast...
All the armies above have had a lot of their units updated into Finecast which will be both good news and bad news for people who collect them. Still, it's nice to have more manageable access to models that previously would have been fiddly and awkward to get onto the tabletop, especially something like the Screaming Skull Catapult.
You can check out more of whats new on the Advance Order section of the Games Workshop website.
Will you be adding some more Waaaagh! to your day?

I have mixed feelings about the new plastics – the Savage Orc has a great dynamic pose but otherwise doesn’t look different enough to me compared to the rank-and-file to really stand out as a Big Boss. He’d make a great alternate champion, but to be a lord or hero I would rather he had a big feather headdress and/or some flint slabs for armour – something to add grandeur while keeping the brutish style. The gobbo doesn’t stand out much on his own for a hero having no bling, but being on his own scenic rock gives him extra… Read more »
I’m actually quite surprised: Kroxigors went from 3x 17.5 € to 41€ for 3.
I mean, this is unbelievable! Games Workshop… Making something actually cheaper in finecast ???
The Apocalypse is nearby, let us all pray… To whatever god you believe in: Khorne, Lords of Kobol, Slaanesh, The God-Emperor, Valar, …
(alright that last bit was pretty much me going a bit crazy)
So many other companies have lowered their prices when switching from metal to resins (most notable Privateer whose resin kits are often much cheaper than then metal ones they replace). And there are more companies out there now doing really good injection molded figures for significantly lower cost (Perry, FireForge, Warlord, Victrix). I think GW was able to get away with always raising their prices back when there was nobody else to really compare them to. Now that there are so many other companies producing quality minis in alternate materials GW can’t just say, “Production costs forced us to…” anymore… Read more »
Having said that, the price increases for most of their FineCast line are only made that much more insulting when you compare them to other companies. So glad I stopped playing GW games.
What I am liking in that Savage Orc Big Boss is that dynamic pose.
It’s possible the Savage Ork warboss is bigger than the normal infantry. That’s what they *should* have done anyway.
lol @ Dark Elf players. Enjoy.
The great thing about this site is you eventually come to the realization that you can get the same or higher quality models elsewhere for a fraction of the price. GW seems to be getting lazy as well as greedy. This bunch of Failcast models is just average imo, and I don’t fancy hours of filling in bubbles with green stuff.
These aren’t really that impressive to be honest. I know plastic is inferior to metal/resin but GW have proven they can crack out better stuff than this.
