Waaaaaaghammer Forge Orc Rogue Idol Now on Pre-Order
February 3, 2012 by brennon
Well we didn't have long to wait until we saw the actual miniatures did we! Here is the Orc Rogue Idol from Warhammer Forge!
Infused with magic from totems, offerings and idols these rocky offerings to the Gods Gork and Mork will spring to life during a period of intense Orc activity. Powered by the Orc lust for battle and war they will go on crazy rampages throughout the Old World. Even more so during a Storm of Magic perhaps?
You can find the experimental rules for them here.
Will you be worshipping one of these dark idols?

I am sorry to say this, but this model is the ugliest thing ever.
Ugly in a good way lol? It is meant to be an Orc made of stone and other gubbins.

Ben, I just expected a little bit more of the sculpt. Ok it fits into the Orc culture BUT I wanted something more from the sculpt…
That’s all good 🙂 Just wondered on your opinion behind the piece.
BoW Ben
well, I guess that means that GW won’t make any golem type MI for dwarfs in the future… hmmm.
One would hope they still do lol – I have a perfect idea for a Golems of Kazar-Gromthi army.
BoW Ben.
Not really on the same level as the Curs’d Ettin or other models…I wondered about the price until I saw the base – it looks to be on a 100X150.
If that’s true, then this is huge…but that means more room for the sculptor to work on detail (the rocks it’s made of look a bit soft-edged for example) so it doesn’t get a pass from me.
Have to agree with whats been said before …pretty clumsy …in a bad way. Its just like this took 10 mins to sculpts as its just a lump.
You really think it took that long?
The model looks huge! Reminds me a little of some Hordes models. It’s not the best or the most interresting model to come out of Warhammer Forge, but it’s ok. The concept is solid, but I just don’t see someone shelling out 65£ for this one when it’s quite easy build one from scratch.
There is a model, beautiful one of a tree-woman, from Fantization (see the mini here: http://www.fantization.com/ProductImages/ultraforge_miniatures/UFM-TP03.jpg) Big and beautifiul sculpt!
For an Ork idol of such thing I expected to see more than soft rocks and few gubbins…
I have the Ultraforge Dragon and it is a class above and beyond ANY dragon that citadel or forgeworld *cough*trish*cough* have ever sculpted. I hope one day GW hire a decent monster sculptor for their dragon ranges. The guys at Ultraforge put GW to shame.
If I take a crap and glaze it I think it could come close to this. Really, I find this as something that can be home made and is a waste of the good talents at Forgeworld. I think some people will buy this just to show that they can blow cash on a model that really isn’t worth the price.
Save 65 quid and make your own! All you need is: Clay, sand, wire(thick gauge stuff – a coat hangar?), pliers, pva, superglue, stones and pebbles, orcish bits box. First make a rough armature out of the thick wire Next, mash some clay to the armature and fashion a roughly humanoid shape. You can press some larger stones into the clay as its drying to add texture or a whole leg/arm/head – remember to spend as little time as possible on it as you are aiming for a very mishapen and irregular look to your idol. Once the clay has… Read more »
I’d hack the rock shapes out of pink foam to make it lighter rather than using clay, but yeah, this defo falls into the “selling us stuff you can make in an hour for nearly free” pile.
I’d agree that it’s not really that great a model detail-wise. That being said, I don’t really know what more I’d want from it. It looks exactly like I’d imagine an Orc golem to look like. Maybe they could have had a shaman riding it.
A zoggin’ ‘uge choppa made from an ox cart lined with regular choppas round the sides maybe?
I agree with above comments … it’s not the type of models we expect from forge world. these should be produced as a lower quality plastic model making big center pieces easy and cheap for your army … forge world has been producing terrible things lately .. take the wolf rats for example: 1- the sculpt is also nothing spectacular and should not deserve more then a cheap plastic kit 2- according to fluff the skaven themselves dont know the origins of the wolf rats but somehow they’ve covered them in bandages, given them helmets and eye patches and even… Read more »
Actually it looks cool! And I have seen some “homemade” versions on the web, and none of them look even half as cool as this one.
I`ll definately spice up my O & G-army with one of these babies! Cant wait to see the look of my opponents face when I table this, haha! 😀
