Violet Death – The Zombies Arise!
October 10, 2011 by crew
It's the run up to Halloween and Tinracer, one of our long time contributors has started a spooky new project, inspired by the season... Violet Death...
Join us as he assembles his macabre Vampire Counts army and see the different miniatures he's using to represent his legion of the restless dead.
"My name is Violet.
I was 6 when the black death came to my town. All of the people became very sick and went to a very long sleep. My mother, father and two brothers all went sick and off to sleep too. I was all alone…
Then I met a nice pale man that kissed my neck and now I’ll never be sick, ever or ever. And I can now wake up all my friends and family to play with, including mister scarecrow from the lower field, all the nice doggies from the huntsman pack and the nice, long nose doctor men that came to the town to help but got sleepy.
That was 92 birthdays ago…
I am Violet and I am 6 and I WANT some more friends to play with…"
"These are my very best friends. I like playing with them alot. If I break them or they fall apart it's ok, because I can always make some more."
There will be more along soon... so stay tuned... if you dare!
Next time... we'll look at the Ghouls!!!
You can check out the fantastic Violet Death Plog by clicking the link.

Lovely! This girl could serve as Violet for the fraction of a price http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_457&products_id=1657
really looking forward too seeing this army painted and grow; like a vampire, leaving me thristy for more……I know, I know, bad joke.
Well done @tinracer I will be very interested to see how that goes! To beasts well done for utilising the community to add to your content.
This should be very interesting to see how it goes. I hope that this is a beginning rather then an end.
Thanks – @lucas nice model – not seen that one. Do really like the candy model, especially as what could be more dangerous than a 98 year old 6 year old Vampire, but a 98 year old 6 year old Vampire with scissors… @pedromondew – you can’t have a vampire army without a few bad jokes. Otherwise they are just a pain in the neck… @northeantiv – All the models are bought, made and undercoated. Plus I have a deadline of the end of Nov for a weekend bash at a mates. Hoping to get the bulk of the models… Read more »
Again, a really great looking project. I’m a sucker (huh, huh) for the background blurb and “period” graphics you’ve provided with it; they really add an extra dimension. As for the Candy; her appearance really nicely contrasts the zombies and the scissors look like she has them ready just for the case when some of her friends need repairing … 😛 I just really wanted to share the “floating girl”, as it was quite a find for me (along with some of the other Black Cat minis). Besides, no such thing as too many scarry children … 🙂
the scissors are not as dangerous as her sweeties
I think that the really intersting thing for me will be how you do the zombies. I have never seen vampires be anything but slap dash 3 colour jobies due to the numbers
Great looking unit, loving the unit fillers. Can’t wait to see them with a lick of paint.
Good stuff Tinners old chap
You make us proud Tin. Keep up the good work. Also I like that BoW are giving some of us common gamers some coverage on the projects we are working on. I hope this becomes a added part of this site and more of us can showcase our stuff.
Again, excellent project. I really do love the Mantic Undead Range and I can wait to see all the hordes upon hordes of shambling corpses….. This will look incredibly impressive once it’s all done.
I do, however, think that Violet should have a few puppies to play with. A few Dire-Wolves would look really good with your overall concept.
Nice, looking forward to seeing this progress, great theme.
As people said before I also like this community some well earned exposure. The minirama part is almost as dead as Violets pets. At least the sci-fi part. More community hightlights in the front page would get more attention to the community part of the site.
One word, ‘Creepy!’
I love the idea of this army. And I love that thers some back ground to it. But the idea of a 6 year old vanpire is well creepy.
I also find it amusing that so far there is not one single GW mini in the army.
@wolflord68 thanks – the mini choice has pretty much come down to what I like and fits the background, so I do have some GW stuff lined up. The corpse cart I like and fits well, I’ve just put a plague doctor face on the necro driver. Plus I now have a small skellie bunker, which is GW. I guess the thing I’m trying to avoid is the classic winged helmeted, rock metal stylee, vampire army. I want something grimmer, scary, more moist – more zombie…
Hi Tinracer I love your vampire counts they are fantastic! I’d really like to know how you made the terrain for the zombies and ghouls such as the bell, the pillars, walls etc. Any idea where I can get them from? Would be very grateful 🙂
