Violet Death: The Plague Doctors meet the Scarecrow
October 19, 2011 by beerogre
Here's the latest update from Tinracer about Violet Death!
This time he's used some Wargames' Foundry Plague Doctors and one of the pre-painted plastic Scarecrows from the (no defunct) World of Warcraft minis game.
"The doctor men came to help us when the sickness started to make everyone sleepy. But they got very tired and fell asleep too. Now I have woken them up, they are much better at getting towns folk back on their feet. They can cure sleeping even in people that have been put in graves. More for me to play with."
"Creaking and clanking, the man from the field comes in from the harvest and with each of his nightly outings he brings me more friends, like sheaves of ripened barley."

When the army is finished you should invite tinracer round to BoW Towers and record at least a high quality tour/discussion about the army or (preferably) a batrep against a BoW staffer 🙂
I think we’ll do that for sure!
wow, cool minis that I will use in my armies for sure! Love the plague docs and thinking about using them in my undead army AND my nurgle army somehow.
Where are you finding all these great minis?
This project just went to the next level. I love how you’ve assembled an army from such diverse sources. This project works for me, cause it’s just a mish-mash of models that he likes….but somehow it’s still perfectly coherent.,.cant wait to see more. There is tons of inspiration here.
Blimey I thought John Barleycorn must die.
Not come alive to slice me neck wide open! Yikes!
Great stuff as per Tinners
Liking the Plague Doctors too
This is inspiring !

Hi Guys – thanks for your kind words. I’m really enjoying the army – and finding the models. @bishmeister really it’s down to trawling the interweb and looking for the right thing to fit the bill. This is still an army for playing not just a hobby project, so after doing some list building decided I fancied a hitty vampire on hellstead. Here’s my work in progress. Starting with a GW skeleton horse, I added some muscles and skin, some wings from a dragon egg toy and, of course, some rails. So we have a winged zombie rocking horse… http://www.flickr.com/photos/51509513@N05/6264431906/in/set-72157627814656287… Read more »
This hobby blog is getting ridiculously amazing. I’ve had a little think as to why this army blog has such appeal. What makes it stand out from the rest. I think it’s because of the sum of all it’s parts, and there are many parts. We all know @tinracer can paint, there isn’t alot of paint on yet but we know it’s gonna be good. From the outset this blog was introduced differently, it created an atmosphere, a feeling which certainly affected me differently from, say, seeing some really cool painted minis, where I respect the artist for his skill.… Read more »
