It’s that Time Again! Bring on the next Malifaux Wave
February 16, 2012 by brennon
Yep you read it right, another wave of Malifaux releases are ready to bit the boards from Wyrd Miniatures. Check them out below and see which of them is your favourite.
Indeed that's quite a few new models from the people at Wyrd Miniatures, and all painted and looking superb! I have to say my leaning this wave is towards the Nicodem alternate and avatar, great character in those models.
What's your favourite?

Those are rather intresting looking models.
I’m loving the alternate sculpts, but those Avatars be crazy! I can’t wait to see what they do for Colette..
I like that avatar of the comfy sofa…does it come with the spanish inquistion?? cos I dont expect it would
Sold all my malifaux but I can see a time were I may buy back in
Some of them have a cool vibe about them. I might have to take a look at this games range in the near future.
Wyrd and VesperOn are fighting real hard for my money! 😀
Nicodem’s avatar might be the coolest “zombie” mini on the market. Is Brutal Effigy shooting a candy stick? And if I wouldn’t die of fright seeing Jakuuna standing on the pond, with drowned corpses rising from the water, then surely I’d croak of hysterical laughter if one of those corpses rose with a water lily on its head …
I don’t know why but Wyrd seem to be intent on destroying what made Malifaux a great game when it was first released. All of these “alternative” sculpts just seem to lack the character of the originals. Good sculpts – true – but lacking that unique quality that made the originals different.
I use to love this game but now I can’t stand it.
It might be because Malifaux was made after the existing Wyrd miniatures, which were sculpted by different artists. They seem to be striving towards a common style with never releases and I see how that might be perceived as “loss of character” of individual minis.
What? I totally disagree. The original sculpts ( nearly without exception) looked like poor attempts by a GW employee in ’89. These now OOZE character, instead of just looking like poorly-concieved, even more poorly executed test minis. Kudos to Malifaux for finally starting to have their minis look like their art: interesting, full of character, and well sculpted.
Now, if only the game wasn’t pants…
I like the new sculpts, be there no mistake. 🙂 I just acknowledge the difference between the old ones, for better or for worse.
Sorry, was replying to melnibonean. Stay golden, Lucas 😀
I thought one thing when I saw Nicodem and his Avatar model – ZOMBIE PIMP! 😀
Wyrd really live up to their name when it comes to sculpts, loving the variety.
Ohhh – some nice looking models that could sit perfectly with my violet death army…
my favorites are definatly lilith her alternate and jaakuna ubume
Wow, a lot of great stuff there. Immediate thought is that I want the Nicodem avatar as a Herald of Nurgle on Palanquin for my just-devised Teatime with Grandfather Nurgle army (things falling apart, in style). The Bete Noire and Lilith avatar are both fantastic sculpts and Jaakuna is properly creepy, but although it’s not the showiest I think my favourite of the lot is Tuco – a perfect, economical sketch of total badassery.
Loving the new Bête Noire. I’ve always like the style of Malifaux’s miniatures but I though her old model was ugly with a capital Ug.
