Para-Bellum Wargames latest creation for the Spires is now available for Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, and it's a brute, actually, its three Heavy Brutes as the Incarnate Sentinels are now available to order.

Incarnate Sentinels // Para-Bellum Wargames

Para-Bellum are returning to the Spires to begin fleshing out the faction's forces and they begin this task by fleshing out a skeleton into a terrifying aspect of murder on the tabletop.  Perverse creations of the Directorate, individual organs were gathered and assembled over a reinforced skeleton. Favouring function before elegance, the Incarnates are yet another example of the Spires surpassing the limits of the flesh.

Clearly taking their time creating new races is no longer an option for the Directorate and with the recent release of the unsearchable W’adrhŭn, we have all seen what happens when they rush to create new life so I suppose flesh golem constructs is the "safer" route?

Incarnate Sentinels

The Spire's Hammers // Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings

So with the Spires already fielding monstrous Brute Drones and Avatara where do the Incarnate Sentinels fit on the tabletop? Well, they definitely have a role to play, nestling between both units. The Brute Drones look like they should tear through everything but in reality, they are best suited to removing light troops, when attacking medium or heavily armoured units they may hit a lot but will suffer from the swingy dice rolling of a d6 in wounding. Meanwhile, the Avatara are graceful killing machines, nobles bringing death to battlefields, and up until now did so fairly consistently.

The Incarnate Sentinels are more expensive than both units, their profile matches the speed and lower attacks of the Avatara with the Brutes lower volley and evasion, so why would you pay more when the Avatara looks to have edged them out at a lower points cost. First up they have 6 wounds per base, these beasts are stayers and will force your opponent to focus on them if they want to get shot of them. Secondly and more importantly they have Cleave 2, being one attack less than the Brutes doesn't matter when a lot of opponents won't get a chance to stop the incoming damage, they should consistently be pushing out damage on your opponent's units and if there is something with a ton of defence to chew through the Incarnate Sentinels do that with consummate ease.

The box set contains three full resin figures and based on what I've seen from painting an army of the Spires they should be exquisitely detailed for anyone wanting to spend some time on painting the opportunity is there and for us mere mortals then they will take washes and drybrushes to have them tabletop ready in quick fashion. They tell me it's overkill to use a sledge hammer on a peanut, I say they need tougher peanuts!

Will the Incarnate Sentinels be standing watch for you?
