Tame The Beasts With Legion Everblight’s Mistress Solo
September 13, 2013 by brennon
In what is going to be a rather chock-a-block day full of Privateer Press content we have a release on the way for Hordes in the form of the Beast Mistress for Legion of Everblight.
As mentioned above first we have this lovely lady who doesn't at all look like she'd run you through in an instant, right? These rare Sorceresses will be commanding the beasts upon the battlefield allowing each of them to fight at their full potential.
Adding to the Legion of Everblight on foot we have the Blighted Nyss Legionnaires. One of the things that I have noticed with Privateer Press models is that it always seems very obvious that the sculpts are the same within these packs. While that makes sense it's something I've not been used to with the newer releases from other companies.
I picked up a pack of Battle Mechaniks and the unit just didn't look right when three of them were the same!
So what do you think of the models as a whole?
I love the rules of Warmahordes, but I also wish to have different sculpts.
I have a trollblood kriel warrior unit, from the 10 models I have 3 different sculpts.
Even the clockwork angels ( 3 models) have 2 sculpts.
It works well if you have big massed armies but I find with a skirmish level game like Warmachine (which is where it’s coolest imo) it stands out very starkly.

Cartoony and repetitive sculpts…
PP is so “on and off” these days ! I’m either awed or repulsed. This time, repulsed.
I have the Legionnaires and they look good. My beef is with the solo. Looks ugly in a bad way.
I’m off the other persuasion. I like the solo but don’t like the unit. I think they all look far too static. Looks like they ware wandering around, not fighting on the battlefield.
The solo on the other hand looks like she’s actually doing something and I find her pretty ace looking.

I dislike both the solo and the unit, for the very reasons you both quote : cartoony, ugly, static, repetitive (even for the solo : we’ve seen that sort of girl time and again for Everblight).
personally rather like the beast mistress looks lovely and has convinced me to grab one… although not sure if it will see much use not a huge fan of it’s rules.
The legionaries are a reboxing so they are not new sculpts. Fortunately they are the best classic infantry sculpts from legion.
The beast mistress is rather well sculpted with an unusual pose that I can only assume represents her using magic and commanding her beasts. It is one of the better solo sculpts from this year in my opinion. Too bad the rules are drowning in mediocrity.
I think it is rather sad that in some of the new 3 man units, they cant even bother with making 3 different sculpts.
I wonder if they are devoting too many resources to other things, instead of hiring a few new sculptors?
Why are people complaining about six year old models? The legionaries are not new sculpts.
Because we were expecting a renewal of the range, and age doesn’t make them better.
The new beast mistress is awesome. 🙂
I don’t know why but I am really bothered by he way the mistress is holding the sword
I don’t mind the legionnaires even if they are a bit lacking. But the beast master is an uninspired sculpt in my opinion. It’s just another chick in leather which could of been good if I hadn’t seen it so many times before.
Apart from the mistress’s slightly disco looking pants (might just be me) I think its a rather neat model. Though the sword hand pose is a little awkward, you could, with a little work, make it a bladed staff of some kind, which might look better.
