Swell the Ranks of the HelsVakt Hordes with Red Box Games!
July 18, 2012 by brennon
Red Box Games have got a Kickstarter Campaign in the works (yes another one to pledge too!) where they are hoping to expand and develop their HelsVakt Horde range. Check out some of the miniatures below...
"The first goal for this Kickstarter is to fund the retool of the HelsVakt Gynnade Krigare, a unit of 5 figure kits. This boxed set will include 5 bodies fitted for universally interchangeable Head / helms, 1 sprue of right hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 2 axes, and 2 maces ) and 1 sprue of left hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 1 dagger, 1 axe, 1 mace, and 1 hammer ), five left hands with shields, and 10 different head / helm options ( 5 closed face helms and 5 open faced helms. ). "
On top of this as the Kickstarter develops Red Box Games hope to expand the range of fantasy figures for both the heroes and the villains along with the HelsVakt backing a dynamic and interesting collection for you to use for Role-playing games.
Above is an example of the kind of models Tre' Manor has worked on in the past and I think you will agree that this is a fairly amazing line of miniatures.
What grabs me is how tied into 'history' these miniatures are allowing you to run a fantasy campaign within a Dark Age world of blood and battle.
So is this a Kickstarter worth supporting?
Let us know your thoughts below...
Big fan of Red Box miniatures.
Am painting some up atm and only wish the standard was half as good as those painted above. 🙁
The metal is easy to work but if they are going to be cast in resin and cheaper? It is all WIN!!
The old HelsVakt were very cool imho but the new sculpts are even better!
WIll want these at some point for a band of baddies!
Good luck with the kickstarter Tre! 😀
Damn you Red Box, you tempt me when I must hold back my spending for my wedding. Some of the best models I have seen in some time for a chaos styled norse war band.
I wonder how easy it would be to convert these puppies into a football team?
Very impressive.
Red Box does some of the best fantasy minis out there.
I haven’t played fantasy games in many many years, but I have pick up a few of their minis just for painting.
Indeed those are great looking models.
Tre Manor is one of the best sculptors out there imo. Red Box stuff is a bit pricey but worth the money. I can’t justify buying an army but as heroes…
Most models are around £7 here. The quality is good and with relatively small output the cost is not too bad. Occassionally you can find a dealer on ebay that ships with free postage.
I think you are right and a 2000 point dwarf army would be cool but unless you are cashed up to the eyeballs…. lol
For skirmish level/DnD it is a very good and viable option.
If I understand the kickstarter correctly it will enable sets in resin and will be cheaper.
I contributed just yesterday, then got an email today saying they had reached the first goal in record time. Good news for me: means a box of those guys above in the mail to me sometime in the next few months.
I wasn’t a fan of Tre Manor’s at first, with what I felt was too much of a WoW influence in the stuff he was sculpting for Reaper. But his Red Box stuff is amazing.
Only a few days left on this. So far Tre has funded the armoured warriors, hordesmen, bezerkers, a bunch of characters and some aenglish types. Still left to fund is The Keeper, some kick ass zombies and then some awesome mounted chaos warrior types.
