Studio38 Twist A Divine Alkemy Templar
June 27, 2012 by brennon
It's been a little while since we heard from Studio38 but they have been working on two new miniatures for the Alkemy line. Check out both the Avalon Templar and a mysterious Djinn below...
As you can see this is no ordinary Templar. It appears this poor fellow has been corrupted by some disturbing power causing tentacles and tendrils to sprout from his face and body. A pretty evocative model...
And next up is Khaliman Djinn Mahritin with another warped and twisted look to him. I love the flowing energy around his legs going up to the wasted body and outstretched arms. A seriously awesome Djinn model and would be great for Role-Playing in any Oriental situation.
So see if you can head over and translate the Studio38 page to pick these up!
I do like the templar… Hmmm…
I heard they went bankrupt? Hope they’ve found a way out of their financial problems.
Studio38 or Kraken Editions, the original producer of Alkemy?
The Khaliman (cat-folk) magic lore is actually water-based, that’s why the djinn appears almost like a water elemental, jumping out from a puddle on the floor.
Templar is awesome as well, his “gift” is quite unnerving.
I have to say that Templar looks less ‘Avalon’ and more ‘Castle Aaargh’! 😉 He’s crying out to be used as a resurrected hero in Cthulhu-based gaming, perhaps as a bad guy at first but after smacking him around a bit he regains his senses…though can you trust him?
The genie is a finely done sculpt too – the modelled energy coupled with the flow of his loincloth and spread arms really give a sense of magical power. He looks to be a resin model though so care is needed to make sure he doesn’t break near the base.
I have some Alkemy models and its a rather flexible resin plastic. You don’t need to worry about snapping parts. Mind you that was Kraken’s line. The new Studio38 I have yet to handle their models.
The Djinn is one of the best I seen from Studio38 line up so far.
Nice models, I like both lots.
But does anyone else think that the Djinn looks like Kenneth Williams who has just been summoned whilst about to take a bath? lol
Carry On Aladdin.
‘Ere, mind how you polish the lamp matron
Nice minis
From what I understand the original Alkemy minis are the restic style of plastic but these new minis are metal and are useable in the Alkemy game via pdfs from the website.
