Studio McVey Tell a Story of Yin & Yang
June 21, 2012 by brennon
Studio McVey might be hard at work with the Kickstarter for Sedition Wars but that doesn't mean they aren't crafting more beautiful miniatures behind the scenes. Check out this awesome pair...
"Akarui and Shisou are sworn enemies, engaged in a never ending fight of Light against Darkness."
These are some great looking miniatures with a fantastic paint job that seriously stirs the shiny syndrome. You can buy them as separate models or together in a diorama set which you can see here...
Both are in resin and Akarui stands at 33mm and Shisou up there at 57mm (to top of weapon). Which side of the battle would you come down on?
Are you going to get a hold of these exquisite pieces?

I so want these. They are awesome.
I’m on the side of Akarui
Always on the side of light, definitely Akarui!
Both are stunning and a great paint job
Probably won’t get these sadly. 🙁
fantastish
The paring is just perfect. I can’t see many other models that go well together as they do.
I dub these models Crouching Awesome and Hidden Amazing – the posing (dynamic and impressive yet seemingly close to real martial arts), proportion (no heroic scale concessions here), finesse of detail (look how realistic the flow of the fabric in the clothing is over their bodies, not to mention the exquisitely fine headdress/jewellery on Akarui) and brushwork (that freehand looks more like custom transfers) are just stunning. These surpass even Infinity or Anima Tactics figs…and that’s something I can’t often say! Simply wonderful eye candy here.
Always look on the light side of life …

Picked up Azumi a while back. i think i won’t be able to resist these.
Both of those are great looking models with dynamic poses.
i want neither to win as this would upset the balance and cause disharmony thruout the 7 realms
Great companion pieces for the earlier Azumi mini.
Does anyone think Shisou has a cool Darth Maul feel to her?
Yes, so much Darth Maul in that model, it actually looks to me like they crossed Asajj Ventress with Darth Maul…….
aaand now I want it more.
Oh yes, I had forgotten about that Asajj character.
