Storm of Magic Miniatures Advance Orders
July 16, 2011 by lloyd
Games Workshop continue to expand their Warhammer range and now have the latest Finecast's up for Advance Orders.
Also there's new dice sets to command your magical powers with that even Merlin wouldn't mind having in his bag of wonders (I love the colours there so so pretty).
Here's a link to the Warhammer Advance Orders page.
I’m glad they bought out the Truthsayer and Dark Emissary again, love those models. Might actually end up having to buy these – probably not for Warhammer, more for D&D lol. The Dark Emissary would make a great warlock, and the Truthsayer a good Druid or Wizard.
i like the lammasu it makes me laugh 🙂 looks like something from disneys hercules =D
I know most will disagree but I really like the twisted appearance of those especially Lammasu rocks ! Not to exited about the recast of the old Albion miniatures didnt liked them in the first place.
The Lammasu looks like its from an entirely different range of miniatures to be honest – just looks, weird.
It pretty much is really, its so old .
They still made chaos dwarves with pointy hats when that model was considered a centrepiece.
I know its them going for the nostalgia factor, but they really should have done a re sculpt of it since its so old – doesn’t fit at all with the ‘feel’ of Warhammer in its current generation. It has the throw back look of their ‘camp fantasy’ days.
I think that’s the point though isn’t it, this whole storm of magic thing has a rushed feel to it. Its like they don’t care anymore. The Lamasu was a dire model when it was first released and it looks pathetic now. They’re trying to get money for ‘nothing’ again. Not been impressed with Storm of Magic it smacks of desperation and it was their last opportunity with me to get me back playing WFB but from what I’ve seen and read about it I’m done, they’ve lost me for good.
Completely agree…Lammasu is worst model I’ve seen them do in last ten years…
gotta justify cease and desist letter for a far better version you know
Such a shame they didn’t bother with resculpting the Lammasu. When compared to the new SoM monsters, it just looks old.
It’s nice to see the Truthsayer and Dark Emissary available again, though. Lots of love for the Albion goodness.
Given that they put pressure on Raging Heroes to pull their quality head (oo-er missus)
so they would have a clear field for this old tat it is even more shameful imho.
They sent Raging Heroes a C&D letter over THAT?!?
10/10, will rage again.
Well played, GW.
Indeed. Very old sculpts, and not too good either.

I’ve heard GW are sending a Lawyernator 1000 back in time to sue ancient Assyria for the use of the Lammasu.
Yeah I commented on the Assyrian and Mesopotamian link with the Lammasu on Tabletop Gaming news. Its just embarrassing that they continue to chuck there weight around over generic mythical beasts that they have no right to whatsoever. Perhaps Iran should sue them for IP theft over the Lammasu!!!
For the prices, think I’ll just stick to looking at web pictures. (Not that I play WFB, anyway…)
…I must say I like the dice though lol. Would be fun to own those *goes off to dice collectors anonymous*
Is anyone else just not bothered about the storm of magic stuff?
The Rerelease of the lamassu and great taruus is kinda kool ,takes me back to fifth edition days. But they do look very dated compared to the modern sculpts. The thing that really disappointed me was that GW failed to include ogres or minitaurs as bindable monsters.
Maybe these monsters are in too many collections and easily counts as-ed from other companies lines, and there for wouldnt generate aditional sales like new releases do.
I have the great taurus in metal with the chaos dwarf general on it’s back. I was going to ebay it, but I think I may keep it now. I like the way the taurus looks, it is a flying bull afterall.
Really now a 21 years old sculpt for 21 pounds? do they charge by the year now?
Severely disappointed, these models should not have been re-released.
I like to think its more that these models and others like them should never have been discontinued. The fact they’re able to make finecast moulds for them says that they still have the masters, so at the time GW stopped its sprues/parts and back catalogue casting service, someone decided they were worth keeping, which begs the question why they didn’t just keep them around in metal which could be cast to-order with no waste…
GW stopped making sense a while ago IMHO…

21 years, huh? Man, I feel old. I remember when these were new.
Truthsayer is a pretty cheap looking, cheesy model. And they’re charging £9.50 for it.
Nice.
I don’t let it bother me because I will never play this game. As for the Lammasu, at least the old chaos dwarfs knew how to perm the beast beard.
Perming the beast beard?
Never heard that euphemism before! lol
I’m actually liking from Great Taurus and Lammasu. That Cold One is not bad either.
Why does that cold one look better than the current one.
It makes no difference any more whether I like GW models or not as I refuse to pay their prices 🙁
I like most of them, but £10 for a single cold one is steep… The Lammasu is awful, but I do like the dark emissary, fenbeast etc. Not sure I’ll bother with the pricey dice.
I don’t mind the idea of re-releasing old models, but the prices put me straight off and some of them really needed and deserved resculpts like the Lammasu. I’d be curious to see if they rerelease Zoats and Fimir though – which I might buy if they are priced fairly (hahahahaha, yeah right!).
Going back to my tunnel now.
I just wonder what they are going to do with all these horrible minis (lammasu) when no one buys them. No wonder GW has to increase their prices. I mean wasting resin, cardboard boxes, man hours and storage space for that? Bad idea. Whoever thought re-releasing it should be smacked over the head.
Has anyone played it yet? I bought the book but hadn`t had the time to play or read it yet. Will the BOW test it and give an opinion?
I am simply shocked GW would have the gaul to charge 19.75 Canadian bucks for a finecast Cold One. That’s the most ridiculous price for a mount-sized critter I’ve ever seen. The big difference: it doesn’t have the saddle or reigns (oooh, aaah). Cold One Knights: 35 for 5 mounted models. FineColdOnes: 100 bucks for five cavalry-sized critters.
Dear GW: hide your head(s) in shame.
It`s finecost man, what do you expect? never the less I’m not that turned off by the concept of using more monsters in games and pimping up the magic phase. I think its a good opportunity to produce some great Monsters. What I don’t understand Is, are there limitations? Can a High Elves army take a chaos dragon or demon for example? As far as I could see there are very few Monstersheets in the book, that are totally new. I seems like they want to put it into the white dwarf.
Good thing about these prices is that it makes other resin stuff look cheap
If they can charge £10 for a cold one they can charge £10 for a horse. The rider will be sold separately for £7.50 and a unit of eight Empire Knights will clock in at £140.
If you’re really lucky they may throw in a command sprue with all that for free.
