Orcs & Goblins | Special Units Discussed
December 14, 2011 by warzan
When considering an Orc & Goblin army, you must always take notice of the more outlandish units that the greenskins can muster. Warren and Darrell take time to consider the specialist units that Games Workshop have created for the new army book.
It’s not 60 attacks, it’s 40. Supporting attacks is only ever one, sorry to say…
40 is still pretty fierce though!
Totally off topic but has anybody checked out the Jokaero Weaponsmith model on GK advanced orders page? They slipped that in on the quiet! Finally, we get an artists rendition of an old race thats been mentioned since very early Rogue Trader books. Now the race has its own model! I thought that was quite a big deal in 40k lore! What’s next? How about the hyper violent Barghesi?
It was posted in the Breaking News section hours ago… 😀
Cool! I’ve always wanted to see one of those as a mini! I’m getting one!
warren if the black orcs have the armed to the teeth special rule that gives them the option of coppa & Sheild, 2 choppas our great weapon choose wich when you are in combat then why do you have to purchase a shield when they have one in there special rule.? also don’t forget if you have a hand weapon and shield it also gives you a ward save of 6 Nice to see snottlings getting back to what they where originally but still not quite the 9 attacks abd 9 wounds when they first appeared but a lot better… Read more »
Black orcs don’t get a shield with the armed to da teef special rule, it just says they can use a single hand weapon if you give them shields
The Armed to da Teef rule does not include a shield. It gives you the choice of using either one hand weapon (and shield if you bought one), two h-weapons or a 2-h weapon.
Tusker charge is for the boar… The orc doesnt get the +2 str, piggy does… Either that or Ive been playing orcs like an idiot….. Or my english suck donkey balls and I missunderstood the whole thing hehe
Hehe, I’m afraid you’r english is spot on! 😛
Why not rank up the trolls? Don’t they get all their supporting attacks too I think…
Think you’re right about the black orcs, really good to make a solid list I think. Also they look awesome.
I think they were errata’d somewhere (I mean I know it’s true for the Chaos Trolls) that the supporting attacks for Trolls can also be Troll Vomit attacks… So in a unit of 6 Trolls in a 3 wide 2 ranks block, you can still get your full number of attacks as well as 6 Vomit attacks if you want…. or you could go for 18 Trolls in a 6 by 3 Horde, but that would be too many points… If only they had a Special Character like the Chaos Troll’s Leader guy who makes them Core Choices in your… Read more »
I don’t have the book in my hands (yet) but I’m thinking I *should* get a second look at Black Orcs. Trolls are now the best special choice IMHO. Will have to test the SOBB (normal and big’uns). Seems like my “core” army list is going to be VERY different from now on…
Sorry guys, couldn’t finish watching without stopping it to point out that black orcs do NOT get the choppas special rule, so they’re strength 4 all the time unless you use great weapons. Orc Big ‘uns on the other hand do get the rule and they’re cheaper than black orcs, with the same characteristics.
You’re wrong.
Movement 9 for the wolves riders aint bad, add banner of swiftness, then we’re talking!
