Sound The Charge With Kings Of War Stormwind Cavalry
October 18, 2013 by brennon
Mantic Games are continuing their coverage of Kings of War with a look at some more Elf units in the form of the Stormwind Cavalry. Check out these mighty chargers and their glittering riders...
Now a few people have commented already that the horses look far too big for Elf steeds but I quite like that! I'm tired of very lithe horses being the only thing these pointy ears use in battle.
From Mantic...
"The models are proper beasts (in a quite literal sense) – large, stocky horses carrying elves clad in full-plate armour. They’re no slouch in the game, either, with a scary Melee value of 3+ and Crushing Strength (2). Coupled with their high Speed value, they’re an ideal choice for whipping around flanks and utterly destroying enemy units with flank or rear charges."
It would be rather cool to get a better look at the riders themselves but from what I can see this is a better take on the Elf models for Kings of War. In terms of cavalry I have also seen some of the Brock Riders for the Dwarfs in real life and I am trying to come up with a way to justify buying some later down the line!
What do you think of the Stormwind horses?

that’s the problem with the look of horses everybody thinks they should be like a race horse forgetting all the armour both rider and horse wear originally war horses looked more like Clydesdales
Things always seem to be hit or miss over at Mantic. I wasn’t at all taken by the Basilean figures, but these elves look fabulous, and are something of a departure from the emaciated ranks of their previous elven units. And of course, there’s the price. I’ve bought several hundred orc figures from Mantic, and combined with the new Bones figures from Reaper I’ve put together an inexpensive, varied, and great looking horde.
I’ve never played Kings of War, but it looks like a great alternative to Warhammer Fantasy.
