More Skulls with your Terrain Sir?

In typical Warhammer fashion it seems the next big Games Workshop terrain piece, Deathknell Watch, is going to be a bit on the skeletal side...
While its no surprise that this building is covered in skulls, maybe its a little much? Also the skeletal weather vane on the top does look a little bit silly.
Despite its looks, most Warhammer terrain is quite reasonably priced and it could still make a good fulcrum for Storm of Magic or simply as a objective building.
Liking this new tower?

It’s the observatory from Skullvane Manse with a new top. It looks better now that it’s not precariously perched on a flimsy outcrop of rock, but it’s just a modified CAD file/recut sprue, so it feels a bit lazy. Also…more bloody skullz! I wonder – if you took a look at the Old World from above the atmosphere, do you think it would look just like a big blue and green skull? I swear, every day we are getting closer and closer to this: http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=121487&d=1320255124 Still, with Witchfate Tor, the Garden of Morr, the Magewrath Throne and the original Skullvane… Read more »
I HAVE EXCLUSIVE LEAK NEWS!!!
To accompany the skull tower scenery, next release from GW is a Bretonnian Noble named Prince Adem le Éternnia, riding into battle on his mighty battlecat!
‘PAR la PUISSANCE de GRAYSKULL!!!!’
“J’AI LE POUVOOOOOOOOOIR!”
My first opinion on this is it’s not great.
I know we joke about skull count etc, but honestly its getting a bit silly, and is starting to become a bit too cartoony for my tastes. (I like a slightly gritter world with just a touch less cliché)
Still the big terrain kits from GW are welcomed, and they don’t all have to be to my taste! 🙂
What if to celebrate this ridiculousness BOW just go all out with a stupid skull contest. Say like a bunch of random fantasy bits in a bin with a big pic on the website. Whoever has the best guess as to the total number of skulls in the bin wins whatever is in the bin. They can’t stop skull f%$*ing all their scenery anyway so might as well make it fun.
I’m all for it! Skull me up Scotty!!
Oh…how nice…another tower…. How many towers do they expect us to buy? I’ve already got the watchtower and the dread-stone (none of which are covered in skulls) I’m really not interested in yet another tower for my terrain collection. Why not make some elven/dwarf/or even bretonian terrain? I’m sure that a dwarf kit would sell pretty fast….
This is not a tower.
Towers by definition TOWER (vb.Rise to or reach a great height: “he seemed to tower over everyone else”.)
This is a bijou one up one down residence with attic and roof garden terrace with good views of other cranium encrusted architecture. Set in a desirable area for fighting off chaotic foes and greenskins.
Just had an epiphany as to why the fascination with Skullz
GW based in Nottingham on the “silver Trent”
Nottingham has the National Water Sports Centre where rowing competitions are held, which of course feature SKULLZ.
It has subliminally seeped into the very fabric of the designers’ being
Am I right or am I right?
I’m looking forward to another manufacturer finally seeing all our complaining about skull overkill and thinking’ ooh! A market for plastic high fantasy terrain WITHOUT skulls!’
Please, for the love of Pete, can we have some non skull plastic warhammer terrain?
Check out Tabletop World. http://www.tabletop-world.com/ Everything that GW should be doing in their terrain but isn’t. What’s the trade off? You get what you pay for… 😉
new pants please, some nice stuff at tabletop
has exhibit been designing this scenery?
‘yo dawg, I hear you like skulls, so I put some skulls in your skulls’
I’ve just finished de-skulling the fortified manor house with a craft knife and model file, this looks like it would require an industrial sander.
Also the brass skeleton on top looks like he’s doing the YMCA. It’s a shame because most of the warhammer terrain pieces are pretty cool.
Yeah, if someone wanted to make a quick buck they could mold up one of those “central” tower sections de-skulled and cast it in resin.
Honestly, GW would be about $300 richer from me if EVERYONE of their terrain pieces lately didn’t have that HUGE, SILLY ring of GIANT SKULLS on them!!!
Seriously… going from amused to aggravated…
Re-reading original dnd I could do with a giant skull hill for the intro module…however Id rather not have skulls to go with every terrain element. I wish fantasy was not so silly at times, maybe historical terrain for 100 year war and dark age for skull free stuff?
Why not go back to the resin terrain they did in the early 2000’s, I got the Dwarf mountain entrance one and it is brilliant. Only has about two skulls on it too. Oh and an axe.
