Shieldwolf’s Northern Tribes Descend On A Barbaric Wave
May 28, 2013 by brennon
Shieldwolf Miniatures have released their Northern Alliance Light Infantry Barbarians and you can check them out below. What do you make of these fur clad warriors?
The set comes with enough components to make twenty miniatures including commanders to lead them into battle. Interestingly as well this entire kit is resin and is actually reasonably priced for what you're getting. You can check that out for yourself on the link above.
I think that these are quite cool looking and would be a great way to bolster a deadly horde of Barbarians. Some might say that the poses are a little static but I don't actually mind that.
Will these be joining your army?
For rank filler the static pose might be better.
No
No? No what? Do you not like them? Why not? What would you use instead?
Not fond of them. A close look on the website will tell you why. They are a crude sculpt, and the faces, at least the ones that aren’t wearing those silly helmets, are poorly done. Someone else already mentioned the static pose, to which I would add ‘unnatural’ in some cases. Even GW Chaos Marauders look better, and I’m not a fan of GW in general.
These models look AMAZING.
This is the first time I’m hearing about Shieldwolf’s stuff, but I could see a use for these particular warriors. Perhaps they could be Viking-like enemies in a D&D campaign, or barbarians in a home-written fantasy/Roman wargame. I personally don’t mind the static poses.
I hate the fact I already own a bunch of GW Marauders, ’cause I’d be buying these instead. I like their evil nordic look. As for the sculpts, they are just right. More than enough detail to make them good looking, not too much to make the painting process become a pain in the a$$…
A firend of them bought them, trully amazing figures. Didn’t have time to deal with this issue again, but this guy did and might give a better idea of what they are really like http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=317206
