I use cork for my desert bases. For anyone thinking of using cork, just know that it can flake and your model could come off the cork. But its not real bad, all you do is glue it back in place and it will look as good as new. I should mention I have yet to use this brands cork, so they may have overcome that issue I had with household cork.
