The Roar of Ogres Sounds from Kings of War
October 17, 2012 by brennon
Ogres are roaring and getting ready to charge into Kings of War from Mantic Games. Check out this awesome looking miniature below along with a few other bitz from their new Ogre range!
These are some awesome looking Ogres that have a little bit of the World of Warcraft Orc about them. Each of those different heads is fantastic and brings a lot of character to the miniatures. The one thing I would say is that they do look a little top heavy, but that might just be me.
I can see these being fantastic when they are finished and a massively popular army in Kings of War.
What do you think?

Refreshingly different from GW’s ogres. They have a nice Rackham’ish wibe to them. I like them a lot. Very close to the concept art.
I like that.
I’m a bit of a fan of GW’s take on the ogre, I think they are some of warhammer fantasy’s best models, but this looks good too, in a kind of ‘next stage of evolution’ of the orcs kind of way.
His legs look a little small compared to the body, but that could be a perspective issue, theres certainly enough details and character there to make me want to paint a few, even if I never play the army .
Hugely disappointed. I’m a big Mantic fan,and was looking forward to adding some of their ogres to my collection, but the legs are far too small. I’ll have to pass.
Have to agree sadly. The upper torso look like it has been transplanted onto the lower of a smaller species.
Looks really off. Sorry folks just do not like and agree also with Noggin with regard to the GW ogres. This is not a perspective issue though. They are just way too small and the waist drawn out too long and thin.
I love them. I would have strongly considered buying these in place of GW’s Ogres if they had been available when I started my Ogre army.
Those look quite exactly like the conceptart, me thinks. Which I like a lot. Damn, I should have pledged for 6 of the blighters. Well, one is always smarter afterwards. 😉
I am a big fan of Mantic and want to see them succeed but I also think the section below the torso and above the knee’s looks odd. Maybe its because the pose of its knee’s together make it look odd?
Ditto. At the very least we need to see the sculpt from another angle, but I think the legs need to be redone. I own a fair bit of Mantic stuff, and am always looking to acquire more, but I won’t buy something that looks wrong.
They look a little cartoony for my tastes, but I do think this may very well be some of Mantics best models so far. If they keep on improving the quality of sculpts at this rate I may very well buy an army from them.
Personally I like them, though I must agree that the lower body seems too small, especially the legs. Still, that just make them looks comical. The radically different look compared to GW does limit the cross compability but they could probably be used as alts for maneaters, yhetees and/or gorgers with some conversion/declaration of ‘count as’. Also, I could see some of these ending up in Trollblood armies.
