Reaper Miniatures Fund their Bones Miniature Revolution
August 1, 2012 by brennon
Reaper Miniatures have had their Dark Haven Bones Kickstarter in the works for a little while now and it's gone from good to great, especially when you see the miniatures that are on offer.
The Bones range is a collection of new miniatures that are both highly detailed and require no undercoat what so ever in order to get painting. They are also fairly inexpensive in the world of wargaming, so perfect for populating dungeons and battlefields in abundance.
Check out some more examples of Bones miniatures below as well as a selection on the webstore...
It will be fantastic to see more dungeon monsters and valiant heroes. The selection above is pretty great and I can already see a fair few that I would pick up.
Is this going to be the Kickstarter for you?
I’ve picked up a couple of these. Supercheap, nicely cast, very little cleanup required and the one I’ve painted (a ghost) took a green wash very nicely with no undercoat, but the plastic is a bit too bendy and rubbery for my liking. On banners and swords, paint is going to crack and come away if the model is flexed too much from a drop or something.
Woo hoo! I’ve been waiting a long time for more of these. I don’t mind the softer plastic either. I bought up a bunch of the softer plastic AD&D models, and replaced all the bendy weapons with metal or hard plasrtic ones, repainted them, and they look great. I plan to do the same with a lot of these. Good price = army building time!
Even if you don’t want the bones, for a 1 dollar pledge you can get 24 reaper paints for 1.50 a bottle – less than half price. That’s a pretty damn good deal.
This campaign is really cooking. They just hit their 16th stretch goal this morning and are working on a pair of great big demons for their $405K goal. If you haven’t looked at it recently, take a look. Other than the miniatures being at less than a dollar each at Vampire level they have the paints and a figure case that holds 150 miniatures which you can get as an option.
Yeah – they have me down for more than $150 US.
