Andy gets a look at the Pyre Troll, a hot-headed addition to the Trollbloods!

I recently ordered my first few Hordes models and I put a Pyre Troll in with them just because I love the model.
Having done a little reading up I’m probably going to use it as a Slag Troll (I’ll be facing jack heavy Warmachine forces), but it is nice to have an idea what I can do with it as a Pyre Troll too.
Painting a Pyre Troll is one of the greatest simple pleasures in existence…

I play Circle Orboros. Can you show me sum good tactic for them pleas.
Ah yes. Fire continuous effect. It’s a good job for taking out casters as pointed out by Andy before. I have just one question though if anybody can help. Does a warcaster benifit from any remaining focus left on it when resolving the fire continuous effect in the maintenance phase? I just dont know wheather to remove the focus before or after.
No, the warcaster doesn’t get the benefit of focus against the fire continuous effect. The order is:
Maintenance Phase
1. Remove all focus
2. Resolve Continuous Effects
Control Phase
1. Replenish Focus

🙂
Thanks for that. I was thinking that was the case but was not completly sure. It was a little bit of a debate in my last game
I cannot articulate how much I hate trollbloods. There are just so many facets of that army that get under my skin.
I have one. Thanks for filling me in, I was lost at what his strength was. Might keep him in just for the animus.
mmmh you have a point there, but isn’t 5 Points a bit excessive only just for the animus? and to be frank, critical fire is nice but seldom of use because it triggers not this often. Well yes he is cheap, but wouldn’t those points not be better spent on something like the guys who carry this stone, whatever they are called? I don not play trolls and have never played against them so my statement isn’t well founded but the stats speak for themselves, I don’t find the pyre troll particularly useful, but that just my oppinion.
Im starting up WarmaHordes, havn’t even decided which faction yet. Since reading through all the books gets me a bit of a headace, so damn much to keep in mind. Is there somewhere I can go in and just read up on factions, strenght and weaknesses and ups and downs on each warcaster/warlock?
@Thorheim: To help decide on a faction you check the ‘privateer press forum’ and ‘battlecollege’, the warmachine/hordes wiki.
@Andy: The pyre troll’s animus works only on a single model as do all trollblood animi. so no pimping units with animi.
