Grats on the promotion “The Andy”! Nice looking game…should be tons of piratey fun for all the scurvy family! 😛
looks like a great game!! I think Andy should have gained a blood lust trait for scoring 21 on an 8 sided dice, hehe. Models look really well thought out and displayed to a great painting standard. wish they had female pirates though!!!……Oh wait a darg garn minute!!!!…. Look guys female pirates…wooh whoo. oh but us gamers are never happy so I have to ask…. How come they all have black hair? What has Black Scorpion got against red heads and blondes!! tut tut, this is a step too far!!!! /waggles finger. 😀 Many thanks guys my model count for… Read more »
hmmmm, just checked maelstrom and Wayland websites and neither sell it. Any ideas of a store in/near to Nottingham anyone.

Andy, i think we found the game you can play on camera.
Wow seems clunky with too many charts.
will take a bit of getting used to it, but after a few games I am sure it would be a bit more fluid imho.
I remember when I first started 40k, I thought that had too many charts 😛 hehe
Hmmm…
I must admit that my enthusiasm for this game has cooled slightly after seeing this video.
The concept of replacing skill-levels with various dice sounds like a great idea. But apart from that, the game sounds pretty… Dunno really… “Random” is the word, I guess. Way too many dice rolls for my taste. And having to use turn-tables and referring to tables for the outcome of actions is just so last year…
Love the orc pirates though…
I was thinking ‘Dicey’ – I can see why, randomness gives a chance to gangs that would pretty much lose otherwise. But the initiative system and the campaign system both sound good.
The Auld Grump
On the other hand, too much dice-rolling will take away any semblance of a coherent strategy, rewarding risk-taking rather than actual skill and planning.
Having the initiative be random irks me in particular. There’re just so many ways a bad roll there can screw you over, regardless of how carefully you’ve executed your plan.
fantastic looking game, i was fairly unimpressed with the whole cutlass week untill i saw this video. it looks like a great skirmish level game. Really like the reaction mechanic and authority action points.
Bravo @beerogre you found a game where the dice love you on camera. I’ll have to start pushing the guys are my local store into getting in on this action.
Lol, well done for winning on camera Andy 😉
So, i see Andy reffering to videos explaining the diverses crews, but i can’t seem to find them
Looks great and the board looks realy good too. I think i might gace a go at starting this
I think the real jewel of the game are the campaign rules.
Excellent skirmish rules. Unlike anything else out there, original, simple for experienced players to get to grips with quickly (let’s face it, how often would you need to look at the table results after a few games) but with huge tactical potential and playstyles for different factions. Yarrrrrr! I’d better get on and paint some more o’ me scurvy undead pirates!
Looks fun, I like the campaign system, but… no ship rules?! In a pirates game?! I think you folks lost me, right there…. Looks good otherwise, but….
Black Scorpion does make some loverly miniatures though, in a bad-teeth-and-you-know-that-they-smell-awful sort of way – you know, pirates! 😛 Worth getting the figures even if you skip the game. 🙂
The Auld Grump
For the record – I would much rather see ‘official’ ship rules than give up on the game, though the idea of trying to fit a Giant on a ship… whoa, I just realized that the Giant could be on the shore TOWING the ship! Run a chain to the convenient anchor in his hand…. 😀 I may need to do that scenario for a roleplaying game, if not Cutlass….
The Auld Grump, right when I was typing, neat!
Oh dear. Just watching this video is tempting me to get the rulebook and some models……..
Congrats Andy on your first on cam win I think. I bought this at Salute this year thinking it would have ship combat and was diappointed. However having watched the vid would revisit and give it a go, my bad really for not checking through the book enough. The campaign stuff does look cool though so will likely have some games and see how it goes as have a few of the undead pirates I have been using in WFB.
@beerogre class work – quality video, has given me a massive insight into a game I that I now really want to get my teeth into…. being a 40K Ork player, Orks in pirate costumes…..it so has to be done!
Well book ordered and looking forward to picking who to take unit wise…love seeing other game mechanics types coming through.
Torn between which gang!!!
Anyone received their book yet?
Mine was sent on Monday but I have not got mine?!?
