Pesky Painted Goblins from Mantic!
January 26, 2012 by brennon
Finally we get to see the Goblins from Mantic Games in the flesh, or should it be metal. Either way, check them out below...
Sneaky, covered in pointy things and with a great look to them. Awesome to finally see these painted up and past the concept stage. Hopefully more goblins on the horizon will continue to impress.
What do you make of the newest goblin pictures?

they look really nice, the mantic range is really picking up speed now, just waiting for warpath to kick off 😉
These guys are looking GOOD. I cannot stress enough how badly they need to be made in sprue plastic – in fact I’d say it’s more pressing than scrapping the Drakon moulds (which just make Mantic look bad IMO). The spear shafts are a little thick and they lack the sharper lines sprue plastic can give them from sculpting as 3ups, but these are great gobbo spearmen – a match for the concept art. Only cost stops them from being bought in bulk for hordes.
I do like these! mantic seems to be upping quality, I look forward to the days when 3d printing allows fast release at high quality and for pennies
nothing ground breaking but I like the design of their goblins at least.
The faces are just like the art work. I think the nose is what gives them a slight change from the GW type most of us are used to seeing.
Wow. I think these look better than the artwork, these goblins are great… they still have those irregular shields though (I like regular shields).
Love them, will be getting some. It’s a shame that you’re going to end up with loads of command at the moment though
I think they’re much better than the current GW generic plastic goblins. But in the same time they suffer from the same problems, like the thick spear shafts. Over all not the best out there, but certainly in the top end as plastic goblins go.
They are oddly like the current GW Skaven in that first pic …
should be plastic. Most goblin players need bucketloads of goblins. Apart from the one with the false teeth… oops, open mouth they are very nice. But metal? Why?
I like those little fellows , a little to much on the comic side, but still better then the Nightgoblins GW has out ATM
@chilledenuff they were originally gonna be made out of plastic resin but there were huge problems with the spear shafts when removing from the molds. these ones therefore could not be plastic as they were sculpted for a soft mold (i.e with overhangs). the archers which are coming soonish will be an “on the sprue plastic box”.
could still be plastic if they made the spears a seperate glue in piece…maybe with a hand attached or the soft plastic ring hand style
Im sure Mantic will sort it if demand is there
quite honestly ronnie said they dont have the budget for it. they have a quota of plastic kits they can do in a year. and i’m afraid gobbo spearmen are not on it.
