Oubliette of Peril
March 14, 2011 by beerogre
World Works Games have premiered their Oubliette of Peril paper terrain set. As you can see from the photo, this seems to be aimed at the Malifaux game, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for any other game that doesn't require a grid system for movement.
We've been meaning to try some paper terrain here at the studio... we'l probably go for some buildings first... they seem pretty straightforward.
Does anyone have a recommendation for some paper terrain to start with?

I never could build the stuff… I always get something moist and wavey in the end, all askew and ill fitting… And there’s more paper glue on my fingers than on the bloody thing.
It’s me, really. I have no problem with minis, but I can’t glue a piece of paper properly…
There be plenty o’ paper buildings about but I’m yet to find anything that doesn’t need a credit card.

google should get you to various buildings, but depends on the styles and settings you want.
For a number of years, I was really into paper terrain and minis. Next to these guys, Dave Graffam (http://www.wargamevault.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=2985) and Fat Dragon Games (http://www.fatdragongames.com/fdgfiles/) are some of the nicest looking out there, and the other guys are cheaper than WorldWorks. However, Dave Graffam hasn’t forayed too deeply into sci-fi, yet.
I did have a link to site that did paper buildings and you could download some of it, including a castle, for free.
Can’t find it right now but when I can I’ll post it – sorry.
Meanwhile these WWG sets look fab, be interested if you guys could do a review..?
Space Hulk games would look awesome with this – I could see some square grids on some of the floor tiles that might make it usable for this game too, not sure about the rest of it though, I need a closer look. 🙂
