Otherworld Preview a Refreshing Drink of Water
May 2, 2012 by dracs
Otherworld Miniatures have previewed a new fantasy sculpt perfect for use in your dungeons, the Water Weird.
This miniature will come as three parts; the stone basin, a section of calm water which plugs into the basin and the Water Weird itself. The sculpt itself is interesting and would be suitable in a variety of roles, whether it be as an objective marker or some form of elemental creature. You know what its like in a dungeon, you can't go five feet without tripping over an elemental of some form.
If you like the look of this miniature, or think it could be better, be sure to leave us your thoughts on it below.
Probably of limited interest to the gaming community as a whole, but a lovely looking piece that would be great (as stated above) as an Objective, an RPG encounter or as a piece for a Diorama.
Otherworld are going to get more of my money…
To get more use out of it, you could make these items into some kind of McGuffin… Perhaps they are connected portals, that is replicated in a number of locations. You only need to use the Water Weird component once to have your players, pooping themselves every time the find another one.
Great stuff!
Ah, the Water Weird ! I’ve never seen a monster with so few minis around, except perhaps the flumph…
And yet, it’s a very cool monster !
Weird. Water weird.

I wouldn’t call it ‘weird’ as it looks more like a moray eel leaping out of the fountain rather than some powerful elemental, but it’s a good sculpt. In detail terms I like the cracked brickwork and gargoyle face on the basin more, but the monster itself will make an interesting surprise for RPG players – maybe it could be a different form of Mimic as well?
The first thing that came to mind when I seen this is a real cool base for the game Bushido or for the Jade Triad from Alkemy. In both cases some of the models look like they can control elements such as water.
Another of those classic monsters… I see another purchase from Otherworld looming on the hosizon…
Like it for sure. Could borrow the basin with calm water as a piece of terrain for many another game, then pop it back in the dunny for some rpg!
