The monsters have ld7 and 2 I….It’s not all that hard to force these guys to make an I test and have them leave the board on a 3+. Smart opponents will probably target the rider in order to bring it down to ld 5….you have a better chance of killing the rider outright anyway and scoring your combat rez points that way. If that wins combat for you…it’s game over for the monster.
Also warmachines get removed from play as soon as they have to take a characteristic test….so there is more than one way to skin an ogre.
Ah, I think you guys are right about the big monsters not being as tough but, surely, that’s a good thing? I was glad to see these big beasties not being stupidly powerful – it makes the game balanced. The only thing I like to see overpowered on a board is a Steam Tank :p A standard unit of 30 archers with BS3 shooting at that thundertusk at short range will get 20 shots in I believe (if the large target rule is still in 8th, I forget). 20 hits = average of 3 6s, one of which, on average,… Read more »
I’ve really enjoyed this series, always liked the Ogre models, may even buy a few, although I don’t know anyone that still plays fantasy , but the ninja maneater appeals to me.
1. You can’t target the rider, unless its a hunter riding a stonehorn. 2. Lacking impact hits, the thundertusk is little more than a mobile weapon platform. The fact it forces your foes to ASL, doesn’t hide how lack-luster it is. 3. You gotta love stonehorns! Their impact hits are a bit weak, but balanced, imo. IoP? Frenzy? Stomp? Is anyone reading the armybook? Have it flank another unit, and watch the carnage begin! Sure, tons of missile fire will bring them down, but that means you’re not shooting up the rest of my force. Gotta love the ironblaster, a… Read more »
The thundertusk has that aura that gives enemies always strikes last.
I just started an Ogre army so although we didn’t get a week like the Orcs, these videos are awesome
Superb series of videos BoW lads. Cheers! Thanks for these.

Wait, you still get a +1 to hit large targets?
I just checked the rulebook, the “+1 hit” for Large Targets has gone 🙁 , however Large Targets get less of a cover save from cover or something.
