Ogre Kingdoms Heroes Storm Forth
August 14, 2011 by brennon
We had a look at some images of the beasts and war machines of the Ogre Kingdoms not long ago. But check out these fantastic looking heroes from Games Workshop.
Golgfang
Bragg the Gutsman
Firebelly
Hunter with Blood Vulture
Mournfang Cavalry
What do you think of these latest images from the upcoming release of the Ogre Kingdoms army?
Personally I am a fan of the Firebelly model and Bragg the Gutsman.
Has this persuaded you to think about starting an Ogre Kingdoms army for Warhammer?

GW prove jet again they make the best looking toy soldiers…
They may be thieves, but say what you like, GW make the best models out there on a massed scale.
Some amazing new models. Love the guts man, great balance of humour and terror. My boy has a small ogre army – might need to help him get it a bit bigger…
Firebelly looks bloody stupid but the other look pretty bloody nice.
Not going to convince me to start Ogres Brennon,
I quite like the old models and what I have seen of them,
These are not bad, just not my cup of Dharjeeling
Damn… Firebelly + my paintskill = epic fail looking mini -.-
Ah these look great. Definitly time to dust off my Ogres in time for these new additions. Really like the Firebelly and the other models but im not sold on cavalry.. something about them just looks dodgy!
the way these guys are looking, im REALLY looking forward to when necrons get re-vamped
I like all of the new ogre models. They are moving a little more toward the Japanese oni style which I think is refreshing. I wont be starting another army on the basis of this but they are more of a possibility than most.
I actually quite like all of the OK models coming out… except for those stupid Sabretusk cav.
*shudders*
So bad…
I think the Sabertusks themselves are rather nice looking. The problem I see is that the saddle is more of a howdah. The ogres all look like they are way to high off the beast as if on highchairs. If the saddles where lower and the legs of the ogres on the beasts it would look much more unified.
Or put a few more skulls on them and all continuity will be forgotten
I know, but aren’t *all* GW cavalry out of scale and unrealistic? Isn’t this in keeping with the theme ha ha?
Since recently just picked up a garden of Morr and a Terrorgheist, I wont be purchasing any OK models, or starting an OK army. I am, however, very much interested in this release from a design perspective. A few things caught my eye that I think represent a good direction for future books. 1. the OK uber spell is a direct damage spell that makes you take an I. test, then does st. attacks on your unit….so it’s not instant death. 2. They will get 10 magic items as opposed to 8 in the 2 previous books. I think 8th… Read more »
i love firebelly! Something about alot of the new GW minis bothers me aesthetically. They all seem to have very angular aspect to them. Very prevalent in the new savage orc minis, but to a lesser degree in these ones. I wonder if its a result of the use of more computers in the design of the minis?
Think you’ve got it spot on there.
That Firebelly is awesome, I really like it. So different from the other Ogres. GW is really getting some nice models out. Some I don’t like so much, but most are awesome.
Hey GW ! Nice to see you, how’ve you been ?
*cough*ahem*cough*woodelves*cough* oh do excuse me, I’ve got a terrible cough 🙂
They all look really well done except for the cavalry ones IMO. Impressed with how the smoke/fire was sculpted on the Firebelly dude. Good they are moving forward more with the imagery style too.
i just finished painting up my vampire lord on zombie dragon model, and this is making me want some ogres… storm of magic pacts, im going to soooo abuse those!
Firebelly looks great, do we know who sculpted him? He is a break in the usual distinctive gw style. More defined musculature, slightly different physique, very stylized and angular flames, and even his Polynesian influences really make him stand out as different. Even his obligatory gw skull seems to just be tacked on to the back of his hammer as an afterthought.
I just got ogres and now im gonna have to go out to get all these models really like golgfag and firebelly and am hoping i can improve my painting skills by the time i have them. Im also excited about how the book and other stats are gonna look.
I have always loved the Ogre Kingdoms line, I think the models look great, and they a load of fun to paint, looking especially intimidating together. I especially like the first two and the last one. I just traded off my Ogres though; I’m done with Warhammer, so while these guys look really great, I’ll pass.
Agreed. The models are great (except the cav), and it makes me wish “Gouge Workshop” wasn’t so expensive, but more than that it REALLY makes me wish 8th edition Fantasy wasn’t such a bad game. IMO people IMO… before I get flamed 😀
Love all those models although the cav looks a bit iffy.
I don’t do Fantasy but tempted to get Bragg just to paint up.
Firebelly is a huge change in GW sculpting design. Looks very stylised and almost “tribal” with the tattoos etc.
GW has been doing some stunning stuff lately but just not for the armies I collect so it’s a bit frustrating but all things come to those who wait!
The character models are all excellent. I especially like Bragg and Firebelly. Lovely additions to what i always felt was a fairly uninspiring range.
I have to say, the painting on the Firebelly is truly exceptional, its way ahead of even the regular top level; work that comes of the GW studio.
The reason I think that Firebelly stands out so much to the other models from GW is that it looks unique as well that it conveys a personality. Most GW models are just made to show you the player what it has and its role in the game. Because of that limitation most stuff from GW will have the ghastly squat and arms flexed position “look at my gun, sword, what ever it be in my hands”. Now compare that to the game confrontation that cared not about the stat of weapons (in most cases) and let the sculptor to… Read more »
Am I the only one hoping for ogre/lizardmen in 40K? Ogres especially as the models are just gorgeously huge.
I know, I know, Ogryn, but c’mon! An army of them?
As many have said before it’s exciting to see these new scupts because of what posibilities lies ahead when they sculpt for an army I collect.
Looks good, I might have to get a Firebelly just because that is an awesome sculpt. However I do agree that the Cav looks redonculous and not in a good way. If I had those I would probably mount gobbos on them. Ogres are just too big to be a calvaryman.
