Mantic Declare the Summer of Kings of War!
March 29, 2013 by dracs
Not much has happened with Kings of War recently, but it looks set to start making its presence known this June as Mantic have announced what they are calling the Summer of Kings of War!
The sculpts made possible by the kickstarter last year will soon be appearing, meaning fans of fantasy will have some great new minis to look forward to.
Here is a list of all the Kings of War sets which should be appearing this June:
- Trolls
- Orc Gore Chariot
- Orc Fight Wagon
- Undead Mummies
- Undead Werewolves
- Undead Vampiress Lady Ilona
- Undead Lord Malak
- The Basilean Legacy
- Basilean Men at Arms
- Basilean Paladins
- Basilean Crossbowmen
- Basilean Elohi
- Basilean Sisterhood
- Basilean Sisterhood Lancers
- Basilean Paladin Knights
- Basilean Chariot
- Basilean High Priest
- Kings and Legends
- Ogre Warriors
- Ogre Shooters
- Ogre Grokagamok
Two complete books should also be appearing for Kings of War. The first, "Kings and Legends" will give you the details and background for many of the heroes who live in the world of Mantica, while the second, "The Basilean Legacy", details one of the powerful armies of humanity, led by mighty angels!
It will also provide rules for two new factions as well as new stuff for magic and magic items.
Apparently we can expect to see a whole load of tournaments and events for Kings of War happening in the near future, so it certainly looks like the guys at Mantic will be kept busy in the coming Summer.
Which of these releases are you most excited about?

Poor Troll trolly troll
He only haz ikkle legs and waist and a hunoooormous upper body and arms.
How do he stand and walk?
ps Men at Arms at first view look promising
Would snip of the plumes, they ain’t at no pantomime.
I think we have discovered the creatures that all the Warmachine races based their ‘jack designs off.
Looks good, just hope they put more effort into the sculpts than just pumping out new kits. The trolls and humans look promising but they could have put some more small details into the humans.
Why don’t they have small details setting them apart, like different earings, facehair, belts and so on. Everyone looks just the same, the exact same armour and small bags and the like. Aside from that I’m looking forward more and more to each new release from Mantic
Am guessing that when massed up into units you won’t see all the detail?
And for the trolls, hell yes I will buy them!
Cant wait to see the new Werewolves.
Kings of War is such a great ruleset. 🙂 ….its a pity more people dont give it a try.
Come on BoW, Give us a KoW batrep !!!
I’m actually quite curious myself about Kings of War. How different is it to Warhammer Fantasy?
Never got into warhammer, i always used historical wargames rules with some bolt on magic rules when playing Fantasy, until i found KoW. So cant really say.
But i know its quicker, cos when we play it at our club…………….
We normally get two games played in a day, but the warhammer guys take all day to finish one game.
Last year we did a small one-day club tourny (8 players) and we all played three games each.
(I came third with my all Werewolf army. 😀 )
I like to see them in my hands before I go and judge them. So far not really what I’m looking for.
Seeing how the humans turn out versus the price will be very interesting.
Considering that this sort of product is for the most part going head to head with the Perry Twins medival historical figures.
Useless dangly curtain between the legs cliche alert!!!
How did I not spot this on the sisters earlier.
I like the trolls. Will be buying a fair few of those.
yes yes yes… My ummies!!! (ringing hands) Looks awesome. Can’t wait
