Lead Your Night Goblins To Victory With Warhammer Forge
January 12, 2013 by brennon
It looks like the Battle for Black Fire Pass is nearing as Forge World release their first greenskins in this Night Goblin Command Set. Check out these pesky grobi scum below...
This set contains a Standard Bearer carrying a Battle Standard emblazoned with the symbol of the yellow moon. Next to him is a Warboss riding a Great Cave Squig which will certainly put some deadly claws on your weedy little boss.
Finishing off the set is a Shaman who is spewing magic from every orifice it seems! When you take a look at the close ups you can see that he might have had a few too many mushrooms!
I do like the action in this miniature especially and its a lot of fun for use on the battlefield and telling a story.
What do you think?

Hard to make out what is going on with the shaman
Might have helped if the squiggly green stuff that looks like, well, squiggly Greenstuff had been painted a different colour to differentiate it from the green skin.
If you have to magnify the mini to see what is going on then there is something wrong.
Having seen the soul carrier in the Helldorado release and how the emanations from the buckets was sculpted and painted, this is rather second best imho.
Overall rather nice but not £30 quid nice
Is it me or do forge world seem to always be painted to a poorer standard. Looking at the resins made me think they’re quite cool. Yet the painted ones and i just thought mmmrrrghh.
Looking at the second picture makes things look easier to figure out. That shaman is being held up by what looks like goblin spirit hands and out his mouth is his own spirit as it looks to have a goblin face.
The Shaman is supposed to be spewing smoke. (Think along the lines of the Ogre Firebelly). As for the paint job, from what I understand they don’t have a dedicated painter it’s just something they do on the side. I love these figures and it’s nice to have a respite from the Horus Heresy stuff.
Ahhh. You think that eavy metal would pairnt them too. Always nice models. To be truthful i always preferred the old catalogues with the inked miniatures. You could see all the details and what you’d like to do to them. Now i think people think that you have to do the studio colour scheme.
I like the shaman, I do agree with the “magic stuff” needing to be painted another color. It also looks like the moon symbol is at the tip of the magic smoke, if so, its a nice subtle hint. Unless I’m seeing things.
