Koji and his Monkeys Are Bought to Life
February 27, 2012 by brennon
We saw the concept art for Koji and his little monkeys from Bushido not long ago and now GCT Studios have got a preview of the latest Work-in-Progress.
I like the macaques but I am a little disappointed with the Koji model. I would have loved to see him in the pose from the concept art, but maybe this will grow on me as we see painted work later on.
Liking the little monkey, and Koji of course?

Unusual for Bushido to deviate from the published artwork, but I think it works.
The hand shielding the eyes to depict someone looking seems a tad cheesy but like the climbing up the bamboo idea.
I like them all ! Lovely model… Such a rare pose, such a rare subject !
I’m with you on this one @elromanozo this I think looks better than the art work. The art work just had him standing with no motion or feeling. This new version looks way better and dynamic.
In my opinion the art work had a bit more attitude to it. The concept art shows him rolling up his sleeves with a great look of determination on his face as he gets ready to fight someone. I think right now the way the model is posed takes away from the subject, which is Koji and puts too much focus on the monkeys.

It could be the sculptor cheating because they didn’t want to muck up the determined facial expression…mind you if this is ‘cheating’ quality I wouldn’t complain too much.
