More Kingdom Death Releases & Kickstarter News
October 5, 2012 by brennon
Kingdom Death has shown off some new artwork from its world of dark, mysterious horror, and accompanied it with some news on releases and a future Kickstarter!
Don't worry, this ones safe for work! The releases at the end of the week will be the Forge God, Twilight Knight and The Scribe. As well as this the next 150 Illuminated Ladies and King's Hands will be available!
The Kickstarter is set to launch in November and will run until January. It will be titled Kingdom Death: Monster and will be their first game!
Is it just me or does Kingdom Death remind you of a very horrifying version of Dark Souls?
Do you think you will be pledging to a Kingdom Death Kickstarter?

Kindom Death is a bit of a hit and miss with me, some of the models are just gorgeous whilst others leave me more than a bit cold, the level of detail throughout is stunning however and the ‘flower knight’ and ‘king’s hand’ models are truly glorious.
As far as the recent deluge of kickstarters go, providing value for money, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this.
Kingdom Death aesthetics are certainly the closest thing to Dark Souls (or it predecessor Demon’s Souls) in miniature form, barring the quite strong sexual wibe. That being said, Kingdom Death miniatures at the moment are a bit fractured. Not fractured as in they’re bad sculpts or anything. They’re coherent aesthetically, but we’ve seen so far some monsters here, some heroes (of sorts) there. There’s not much connecting context apart for the aesthetics. It’s a bit like looking concept art in miniature form. You instantly get the feel portrait, but the larger picture isn’t focused yet. It’s been said on their… Read more »
It will be interesting to see what their game will look like. Not sure how many people I could get at my LGS to play. They’d have to get the ok from their wives first just to buy some of those scuplts.
I WILL PLEDGE MY HANDS! BOTH OF THEM! :

I know that the men that make these models are very talented and admire the level of detail the minis have. With that said I wish they moved beyond the sexy babe models and focus on making a line that can be used in a game that kids can at least watch if not play with. I will admit that the sexy babe minis are most likely the models that made this company run as long as it has without a game associated with it, but if they wish to be seen on tables as a board game they need… Read more »

Why? I can get the “naked chicks are sexist” line…to a degree, but why must a game be kids-friendly? I think, given the usually…play-it-safe attitude of wargaming models, it’s actually refreshing that at least someone (well, and the Dark Age game) tries to make a game that doesn’t “think of the children”.
Manpug, sexy women sell to gamers. Not enough other companies are daring enough to admit and sell to that audience. Thus, a big market for them with their sexy ladies and grotesque monsters. They are using a niche and finding kid friendly doesn’t fit in that. Not to worry, nearly all other miniature systems are fine to include the kids. If they create a game, and you want to play and add the kids without subjecting them to what you call sexism, fine, use proxy models. Just don’t ruin the fun for others. 😉
Honestly these guys tick me off because their minis are so hard to get and they do such outrageously limited production runs. I really don’t even care to see their stuff, because there is no chance to get any of the pieces I would like to own.
I’m not convinced. Show me something quality that isn’t T & A and I may bite. But judging from the lukewarm response above, I’d say a ‘hat in hand’ approach won’t get them the funds they need.
Lots to say, quick list format! I have mixed feelings about kickstarter. A big hope is to make plastics easily available The “game” has a score of new miniatures T&A ( pinups ) have indeed funded most of the project On game launch, there will be an effort made to separate the pinups from the main line, they are not canon. The game is very much warhammer quest inspired, but i am gambling and trying something a little different. I can’t spoil much yet, as the importance of making a big first impression is huge. I love my fans that… Read more »
Well, I love the KD range so far, and will definitely be pledging, even though I’m already piled neck-deep 😀
