Kingdom Death Finds A Saviour & The Chosen
July 18, 2013 by brennon
Kingdom Death is back with a whole load of awesome looking miniatures for their game. Check out the Saviour at her different stages in life alongside the monstrous looking Chosen...
Above you can see the Saviour at 20 years old, 40 years old, 80 years old and finally in Super Saviour form. Each of these sculpts is as top notch as we've come to expect but sadly only the 80 year old variety is available right now! Here's hoping they have another run on this lot.
The other option is the rather massive Chosen...
"The apotheosis of the Entity's bottomless narcissism, the Chosen are created in the Entity's self-image. Its glory made flesh. Imbued with savage beauty matched by their intense vanity. The grinding machinery of the Holy Lands freezes wherever they pass. Through their eyes the Entity casts its self-loving gaze upon the vastness of its creation."
The back story for Kingdom Death is constantly getting more interesting and I love the Dark Souls/Demon Souls edge to everything. If Kingdom Death and those guy don't get together for a special miniature then I think they're missing a trick.
What do you think of the new releases?

For such a huge miniature, the chosen could have been better sculpted… both in terms of proportions and detail. Kingdom Death has done better !
The saviours are awesome, though !
He does at least have a glorious mullet even Brock Samson himself would be proud of.
Really really really like the Saviour and the evolving form through age
The Chosen doesn’t do it for me but guessing he will be well received
Gosh I want all the Saviour models!!!
Apart from the 80 yo they are all sold out *boo hoo*
A lot of them sold out in the first 12 hours =( really hope they can keep up with demand at actual release
Oh, and most of those are already out of stock on the company shop… Let’s hope people can find some from third parties !
just a quick question, dose anyone know when monster will be out for retail?
There’s no firm date yet on when backers will receive it, and Adam has made it clear that backers will get it before it goes retail.
My best guess would be that, if it goes out on time to backers, it will start retailing early next year
Those are all great looking sculpts. Even Chosen looks great.
I personally like the evil queen, I mean saviour at 80 years best anyway. The saviours are lovely though. The chosen reminds me of David
I really like all of these; but then I tend to like all the KD stuff anyway.
Ordered all the Saviours, a Chosen and an Experiment of Death – there were nine available last night and that was down to like 5 in less than half an hour so no knowing if there are any left!
The first one looks like Goldmoon from the dragonlance series. The second would fit just nicely in a Vampire Counts army.
Love the saviours.
Even wanted to buy a few, a first for me with this company.
But i cant, since he apparently only sells to mates or something.
I don’t think that’s exactly fair. He does Limited Edition models to advance the brand and gain further funds to do so. Many companies do this, like Studio McVey. Granted, his runs may be smaller at only 450 each, but his miniatures are all slated to become general release *at some point* from what I understand.
Most McVey LEs are only 750 casts, and one of them was 400! It’s just first-come, first-served, unfortunately.
Yes but almost none of his general release models are in stock…
I am just confused.
He makes minis to sell, but apparently doesnt have any for sale?
Yes, it’s very frustrating. Many people buying limited editions at a premium are very disappointed when their “limited” miniature gets sold to everyone else after a few months/years ! Kingdom Death doesn’t have the production/distribution means to do more, I’m afraid, and Adam insists upon quality and controlling everything, which means delays and very small series indeed. It’s also a very, very small structure, with out much funds in spite of a very successful Kickstrater (too successful, IMHO, now he has to fulfill expectations and send too many rewards to make a profit, and upgrade production/distribution from scratch…). If it… Read more »
Nailed it firmly on the noggin, Romain
That’s what he said… 😉
My thoughts exactly.
Those are some truly gorgeous models, but I cannot be bothered to sit by my computer 24/7, waiting for the newsletter to show up.
If he want to grow his company he really need to move ALL models to a general release. Who would want to play a game where you can’t be sure if you can ever get the models?
Yes…but as I said, this takes a major investment, and he has to build all the structure (management, distribution, stocks, casting, moulds, marketing, materials and production…) All this takes time and effort from a single guy, and man-hours from people one may not even be able to pay at first. It also takes an incredible amount of number crunching. When you’ve already got another job and this is all a labor of love, it can be tough ! I’m not just talking about KD, here… We don’t have to buy everything and we can rightfully criticize, but we all should… Read more »
Point taken.
I admit that I might be biased by my general hatred of limited editions…
Oh, I hate them as well…
I think it’s terrible to brand a run “limited edition” just because you simply cannot cast more of them, in order to get people to buy more of them at a steeper price, and THEN not break the mold and make more of the miniatures.
It’s waving one’s cake and eating it too… I’m not saying this is what happened here (although, let’s face it, it’s pretty close), but I know it HAS happened…
I also never understood the whole “I have it on my shelf and YOU can’t” point of view.
I just want to paint beautiful minis, that’s all… I don’t care if they’re exclusive or limited edition. The whole point is actually to make them unique by painting them !
Well, the LE miniatures are mainly meant to be display pieces – high quality, etc. As I understand it, Adam plans to move all his miniatures into General Release (plastic of some form, I would imagine) and this is starting with the Man Hunter, Gorm, Flower Knight and Lion Knight at least, which will be available as expansions for Monster, as well as the Kings Hand and Butcher which come as part of the box itself if I’m not mistaken? All of the miniatures required to play the game will be available. The LEs are just not meant to be… Read more »
I fail to see the difference…
If a Limited edition can be moved to the general series, I hope the quality of teh miniature won’t suffer. If it suffers, everyone loses. if it doesn’t suffer, people who bought teh LE will complain (especially if it’s less expensive). Well, they will complain anyway, even if it’s released in a less detailed version.
