Kabuki’s Cinderella Gets Painted Into Her Best Ball Gown
June 3, 2013 by dracs
Kabuki have done their fairy godmother act and turned Cinderella into a fully painted picture of beauty.
Kabuki always do an excellent job on the studio painting for their miniatures. Cinderella here is displaying some particularly nice shading on the cloth of her dress. The best bit I think has to be the effect the painter has achieved with her crystal slipper.
Romain, to the front please and tell us how we mere mortals might hope to achieve such an affect or even how else glass might be painted.
What might you have done differently with this model? Do you fancy taking her to the ball yourself?
All right… All right…
I’ll add “painting irregular gems” and “glass transparency” to the list of tutorials.
That and chrome.
It’s difficult, but if you tackle it with order and method, it’s a straightforward process. Observation is key, as usual !
Superb job on the painting (and the sculpting), by the way ! I’m amazed !
Now what i want to see is @MrDee ‘s take on that sculpt… He painted Alice better than the studio painter, and better than I would have myself. He is capable of such technical masterpieces… can he outdo himself yet again ? 😉
You know we’re going to hold you to your word. 😉
The trick to painting transparency (and chrome for that matter) is that it’s not just about what colors to use and in what order. You have to actually have some level of understanding about light and color theory. It’s not just a video tutorial, but a series of video tutorials really. I would love to see Romain tackle it, but it’s more than a 30-minute tip.
Indeed !
I’m sure Romain can bring it down into 30mins. If not than we won’t feed him.
I might procrastinate… I need the weight off anyway 😉
Thats very awesome paint job that they have given this one. Expesially I like how they have made those glass shoes look like they are glass.
The glass slipper is brilliant.
