Imbrian Arts… Good stuff!
September 24, 2011 by elromanozo
I always like to keep an eye out for the good stuff and here's one just for the painters out there...
Imbrian Arts, a small miniature-making company that, for once, doesn't do resin bases, but instead started out by doing superb miniatures... Just look at those evil-looking goblins !
I hadn't heard from that one until recently, in all probability because it didn't use to ship outside Australia... Well, they do now ! They have a proper webstore, so I encourage you to get your hands on some of those models... They remind me of the good old Rackham days.
Yes, they're that good!
The sculptor's name is Jody Siegel, he also works for the new Mannikin Studios range that we mentioned a short while ago, and I'm sure we'll be hearing from him a lot if he keeps doing such amazing sculpts...
Keep up the good work, Mr Siegel, for, as the name of your company implies, this is art.
wow they do look lovely, full of character and bound to be a joy to paint 😀
Imbrian are genius imho
Their work seem to me to exude a creepy atmosphere that connects to something that is hard to place.
It is a bit like old school fairie tale illustration, which for me is a very good thing
Saw Jody’s work through the Mannikin website
(fwiw have the Arthur Rackham Santa and also the cat sculpt. The sculpting and quality of casting are superb!)
Wow, just wow. Thanks again Romain for such a good find. I will need to look them up soon just so I can have something cool to paint.
really cool 🙂 the goblins remind me of some of the confrontation stuff
where do i find that vampire model, he’s aces! I didn’t see it on the site anywhere.
Sooooo much love for those goblins, a vital antidote to the GW McGoblin archetype.
Sculpts like these are closer to the excitement of the imagination than any corporate branded clone. I mean Cat Eater wtf! outstanding…
Those goblins are amazing, they have a little bit of a gnarly Brian Froud look to them but otherwise they’re kind of intrinsically goblin-y without apeing any of the usual fantasy styles. I like the guy in the second image too, it reminds me of one of the classic movie vampires, maybe one of the various Nosferatu? Great stuff. Shame I paint like a chimp.
@elromanozo – Yes! You got round to plugging them! 😀
I see Imbrian stuff on Frothers sometimes – lovely stuff. What with Imbrian Arts, Studio McVey, Red Box, Corvus Belli, Rackham (if you can find it) just to name a few…there’s never been a better time to be a painter.
I don’t have the skill to do any of the above justice, but for those that do I’m glad BOW can show them off.
Easily solved thc!
1 Purchase spersculpt of choice.
2 Kidnap Romain
3 Threaten to harm his brushes if he doesn’t paint the model
4 Spend the next 15 years honing painting skills whilst passing time as a guest of a certain type of government hotel, where the only mini bars are on the windows.
*supersculpt
sorry about the typo
This is my fault.. Romain actually gave them a plug about a month ago, but I didn’t get around to putting it up on the site until today… 🙁
Naughty Andy!
Think you ought buy us all some Imbrian goblins to atone for your sins! 😛
You are completely forgiven !
… But don’t hesitate to buy Imbrian Arts stuff anyway…
BoW Romain
I hears about these guys ages ago…lovely stuff.
The goblins remind me of the goblins in the movie Legend.
great minis, specially the goblin ones! They remind me of the movie Lenged too ( just watched with my son this weekend!) and those cool minis from Rackham (boy I miss those minis….)
