Hounds Both Big & Small Stalk You With Mierce Miniatures
October 29, 2013 by brennon
If you're into snarling beasts both big and small, well kind of small, then you might want to check out some more of the updated monsters from Mierce Miniatures world of Darklands.
First up we have this pair of Drune Hounds that will be joining Jowan when they are finally released. There will be three in total when they are finished but right now both have names! Biter and Snapper sounds pretty accurate.
On the big side of things we have these two Werwulf models in the concept stage (I swear these guys just can't spell and make up the names!). They are both looking amazing and I do love to see Werewolves take to the field of battle.
My one query at the moment is on how similar that first Werwulf, Inguc, looks when compared to the Circle Orboros one for Hordes. It even has the necklace of runic symbols around it's neck.
Admittedly it is hard to make a Werewolf look different if you want to keep that Celtic and Nordic theme going but the pose and look is pretty similar. More are on the way for these fellows too and model previews should be hitting soon too.
Have you been following these beasts intently?

thanks! updates on the kickstarter pages happen every friday, and it’s usually worth checking out 😉
I will defiently try and back another one of their kickstarters to get some of those were wolves.
I must admit that the Mierce Miniatures line is looking to be one of the best out there. Though expensive, the quality is more then worth it in my opinion.
Isn’t this the same guy who was a bit naughty with other peoples money a while back
Nope, this was the guy that got F&^%ked over by a man only interested in the hobby as a business and wanted to run him out. THIS guy has been trying to bend over backwards to create an awesome game and range of miniatures, THIS guy was the guy that used to own a club whereby sometimes 60+ gamers attended on a gaming night and people attended from all over Europe. Thats who this guy is. 😀 Hope this info helps. 🙂 Love the models as I have a few on my shelf, so it was real easy to part… Read more »
Mind giving me the brief background of what you’re talking about? Never heard about this.
Perhaps start another thread so it can be discussed in a factual manner. Its clear you are not in possession of the facts.
Glad to here that this is not the same guy because as you say this is an awesome range and I apologise for my mistake and withdraw my last post. “Sorry”.
I am not suggesting it is a different guy, just the circumstances are not as you indicate as a bit naughty. Hehe. Honestly he is a great bloke that is a true gamer at heart. 🙂
Now broadside, I am a big hobby fan (as you know) and I love the look of the Mierce range of minis, but the back story to the whole Maelstrom affair is perhaps not quite as one sided as either Rob or Wayland senior management (of which I am part) might publicly discuss. The only real victims here were the customers of Maelstrom Games who lost their money. I think its a case of each to their own – if you can separate the company from the game/models then its something that you might want to have a go of,… Read more »
If this guys do a third KS (and why not? Their previous two were great successes) I’d back them. The only things that prevented me from the previous one was a lack of funds and not wanting to wait so long for the book. Once I see some infantry and a better idea of how much this game will cost me I’ll give Mierce a bit more attention. Minis are so amazing…just a bit pricey at the moment for something that has no game to back it up with yet. (A requirement of mine…needs to be part of a game).… Read more »
The pose is similar in so much as he has his arms held at the side, and his head turned, but as you say there’s only so many poses you can have and still look natural.
I expect the sculpt to be far better though than the Hoards mini, crisper detail, better proportions and an exact match to the art (I’d expect to see a pile of heads under his foot 😉 )
