Hasslefree Provide for Your Minis Final Rest
June 13, 2012 by dracs
Hasslefree have put up an image on their Facebook of a new set of etched brass tomb stones. Now you can forever remember all those poor miniatures who could not survive the countless battles.
These pieces might make a cool way for you to put together a creepy gothic graveyard. Maybe for something like Empire of the Dead where a Gentleman's Club or Holy Order is encroaching upon a coven of Nosferatu.
What are your thoughts on this? If you have worked with etched brass before be sure to let us know what your experience is with it.
I’m starting to like etched brass. Had my first try a few months back for my renegade guard.
This has a lot of tombstones for the size of brass you get. Good little kit.
How thick are these tombstones? I have to wonder if what is essentially sheet metal is thick enough to represent stone even allowing for scale, though it’s not a massive problem since you can back these with something like plasticard if need be. There looks to be some impressive variety in this set too.
The value would be with fine engraving and decoration of tombstones. Some such are provided and would be great additions to enliven some basic plastic headstones.
For example there is a possibility of very finely detailed celtic crosses that would be superb.
On their own, these will be like paper terrain only a bit firmer and imho not very convincing
I agree with the comments above, but these would make good casualty counters and handy additions to any infantry base (just use a blob of green stuff to affix them on) – in this sense their lack of width would be useful for ranking purposes and would look good within a massed unit, just maybe not on a centrepiece model.
Either way it’s good to see Hasslefree branching out into other mediums. I like them.
