The demo looked ok, but You need more LOS blocking terrain on the play area I think to make this game looking interesting. The most flavour in the game comes from the art of movement, as I suspect ( I haven’t played any game yet, just read the rules and tried to simulate some situations). In such set up, fraction which has better shooting has a clear advantage from the beginning on. I think also that Justine should spread his forces a little to minimize the impact of those area spells.
I think the usefulness of the cheaper, crappy stats characters will be in normal missions where they can go sneaking off towards objectives. Also, although the board was terrain light, the simplistic starter mission massively favoured the SeaWeeds. Also I think an FAQ/errata is needed over the area size of those spells and maybe the cost too.
the pain from mother hydras claws comes form each model hit taking the same amount of damage if it was FAQ/Errataed i would say that each other mini hit should only be taking 1 damage or 1 damage after the first mini hit who would take the full amount. but that’s just what i think from being on the receiving end of it.

@dignity The rule also says the caster may choose one victim within los for each ace.
Maybe you should have formed a conga line
@huscarle could do, but the way i was running them all the time meant that they all didn’t move the same.

then maybe a slower approach and declare hiding at the end of your movement
What are the regular missions for the game like? If they require you to spread out more I can see the effectiveness of the area spells decrease, and as @tims mentioned, provide a use for the cheaper guys 🙂
@stonemonkey56 you can find all the missions and rules on the vesper on website:

just click on the download link and that will take you to a page where you can get all the info for free.

Even on this kind of scenario, looking how the guild models work, I don´t think a “charge and swarm” tactic would really work. But fact is the Rashar had the upper hand bunkering and sticking to their ranged magics. Can´t the guild guys throw knives or any other random items? In a way they could surround and harass people to try and open up the Rahsar bunker formation so the leader could go for the throat of the Magi. And the game looks well made, too bad I´m not high on the Venice setting or the masquerade aesthetic of the… Read more »
