The Ground Shakes as the Jotunn Emerge for BaneLegion
April 9, 2012 by brennon
Since the last release from Maelstrom Games for BaneLegion was such a controversial one it seems that they have gone back to what they do best with this latest monstrous release. Check out Mjagnir the Jotunn...
Now this is a model I can get behind. Love the Norse Giants and this is an interesting take on the idea behind them. It's interesting to see the troll/giant theme mixed in with that of the bird with the way the legs are sculpted. Also the massive hammer is certainly a brilliantly epic weapon.
Will you be searching for the Jotunn?

That looks very menacing.
Loving the rage captured in the face with those bared fangs and that sunken-eyed grimace. You can easily tell he just wants to kill something, and with a hammer that size that thing will definitely end up dead. Even the legs add to the feeling of aggression as they aren’t humanoid – birdlike is one way to describe them but with the claws on the back as well I’d say ‘dinosaur’ was more fitting. The fine detail lacking in the last sculpt we saw is back here in that chainmail as well…this is a really nice piece of work.
Now thats what they do best! The way this beast holds the hammer it looks rather light in it’s hands.
Arms are a tad long for my taste but given the nature of the beast it is easy to overlook, and easier to forgive because of the superb textures and details.
It is always good to see the concept drawings and accompanying notes with the pics of the model
