Not only that, but preorders are up on Wayland Games, so you can secure your mob of massive goblinoids before they hit the shops... how about these offers!
15 Orc Warriors... including a Command Section... for £12.49!
or
30 Orc Warriors... with the obligatory Command... for £22.49!

I’d like to see some more sculpts, but this one doesn’t look half bad…
Would you indeed… well just let me see what I can do about that… 😀
BoW Andy
I do like the look of what of what I’ve seen fo these guys. Have been waiting a while for some confirmationther than greens and teasing. And thirty for just over £20? I’m in!
Time to start a Orcs and goblins army for WFB then 😀
Looking promising, this is the mantic release I’ve been waiting for.
Can’t afford GW products any more so mantic might be the way forward, though it looks like their prices might be creeping up too.. 15 for £12.49 compared to 20 undead for £13.99 looks like a bit of creep to me. Still better value than 10 for £18 that the GW Savage Orcs are.
This sculpt looks very nice, wonder if it’s a character or rank and file?
The Undead use less plastic though so I can kinda see were the price creep is coming from there, but I suppose it depends what else is on the sprue like options or the little dark comedies that mantic love doing.
lol beat me to it 🙂
Be fair there’s probably a fair bit more plastic in an orc than a skeleton … 🙂
If you look at the size of the circular base tab on the orcs and the skeletons, they’re both the same size (as the bases are generic).
That’ll let you judge how much bigger the Orcs are than the skellies.
BoW Andy
So do you know if they are coming on 20mm or 25mm bases?
Mantic has confirmed the Orcs are on 25mm bases.
i love the Smurf thats on the orcs back
I’m thinking they’ve gone for the metal parts with plastic again but then orks are big so plenty of surface area to glue together if they have gone metal. I’m in Nottingham tommorrow anyway so I’ll sneak off and find out.
For the two main sets, the Orcs and Armoured Orcs, Mantic has said there will be a plastic sprue of 3 “Regular” orcs. Another plastic sprue of 2 Armoured orcs. Both those sprues will be interchangeable. A third sprue will not consist of any actual figures, but will have assorted bitz to make up a command group by using the bodies from the previously mentioned sprues.
Orcs with bows will come later.
Looking forward too see some nice Orcs. This could be the second Army of interest to me.
Yeah will like to see them painted and ranked up, but they look like they could be the best mantics come out with, not that the other stuff they’ve done is bad.
Hmmm, I take it Mantic have got a licence from GW to make these?
Perhaps a slight at GW for the recent Chapterhouse fiasco? If not, I’ve missed the point. I am excited to see these models in their full ranks, to size them up, and see if they’ll fit with the new board game Mantic is doing. Orcs are a weakness of mine, and these look promising.
PS: is this the same Hithero of TLA heydays?
Yeah, thats me, LOTR GT this weekend 🙂 It was more of a dig at Mantic for not comming up with their own Orc concepts and mimicking GW, would like to see something truely original from them. Do like the model though.
@hithero – I think they did!
It was put in the post right after GW got theirs from Gary Gygax… 2000AD… JRR Tolkien… and many… many more…
😀

Yeah, I know everybody does orcs, but GW came out with their style of orc and not copied from elsewhere,
Mantic orcs are direct copies of GW’s.
Here’s a new firm http://www.greeneyedminis.com:80/ who have produces cheap metal dwarves and look completely original to anything else I have seen, original but still looking like a dwarf should.
Not sure why I have got 5 thumbs down, just stating a fact, not that I don’t like the models.
I’m afraid I would have to disagree with you there. D&D started out with Orcs that had “pig snouts”, but moved to more “bestial humanoid” with tusks and flat noses at the start of the 80’s. If you look back at the artwork, everyone around that time copied the look. As the miniature manufacturers were making models for D&D (and the other fantasy games of the time)… including Games Workshop/Citadel… The modern look of the GW Orcs is something akin to a caricature of the more “humanoid” D&D Orcs, with bright green skin, rather than grey/green. What I’m trying to… Read more »
Evertime hithero posts, he gets a load of thumbs down! That’s not cool, I agree with you man, but I think in this case, and in every case so far, Mantic designed their miniatures in such a manner for a specific reason. Their original purpose was to provide alternative armies for Warhammer (though they weren’t that explicitly clear), and they probably accept the fact that that is still where a large percentage of their profits derive from, as Warhammer has a much larger following, obviously, than their new game Kings of War.
Hmm let me see..
Spend twenty odd quid on an army book or some orcses? lol
Wow they look awesome, Mantic games are really coming up with some top quality products and a reasonable and sensible prices unlike another company i know (cough) GW (cough). Hope they do a humnoid repltile range ie lizardmen 😉 . As for the GW licence, they won’t have a leg to stand as really they didn’t come up with orcs, tolkien did. The only real leg GW would have to stand on is if mantic used similar ideas in there fluff but then again hmmm, the whole thing with orcs is a big shade of grey.
Don’t forget D&D has featured Orcs and Goblins, plus many of the monsters that GW use for many… many… years. Many more than Games Workshop.
They even produced miniatures for them, until it became unprofitable.
BoW Andy
Let’s not forget that Ian Livingstone (yes, yes, and Steve Jackson, and their other pal John Peake…) founded GW to distribute Dungeons and Dragons, at the very beginning… And they started out at the level of the small companies they’re sueing now. Small History lesson : At that time, it was all a very small world indeed, and everyone was making up their own games and taking “inspiration” from others… D&D wasn’t the only game made in a garage… Fair or not, it was common and accepted, and, good or ill, the most successful games survived. Citadel was founded, and… Read more »
Just to correct one of the inaccuracies in your post. There were Fantasy tabletop battle wargames long before Warhammer. The creation of D&D itself was inspired by such rules.
Hardly… It all passed for historical, even if some were set in times that weren’t exactly set in time (such as arthurian england), as it was only derived from historical and military games. I truth, fantasy wargaming as we know it now didn’t arise until after Chainmail (the proto-D&D) was released by TSR.
Yeah i should of mentioned D&D but i thought it was the orcs in the original LOTR novels by tolkien that came first, but again i could be completely wrong about. as i am unsure of what date D&D came out.
Tolkien wrote The Hobbit and Lotr in the 30s and 40s so I think he pips quite a few others to the post
Indeed he did… but his miniatures range was a bit thin… 😉

Hehe I´m 35, no 36, years old and still want to buy more stuff when I see this ;). However seems like the prices are rising compared to the other stuff they’ve done. Still it looks good but GWs looks even better and if Mantics aren’t much cheaper then I’ll sadly go GW (again) afterall I do buy the models I like the most if there isn’t a huge price difference. Anyone know if theres coming goblins too? and will they then put a little effort into it and make them with separate heads and loads of equipment options like… Read more »
I did see some goblins, but I believe they were part of the ‘formerly-known-as-Khaos’ Dwarfs. (sry, too lazy to go check what is is now.) I don’t know if they are available for Orcs though, but they do exist. Personally, I’m kinda meh about this Mantic release. I really enjoy the KoW game and I play it often. I’m just no fan of the models. The undead are okay, but the dwarfs are just not good enough imo. The money I save on buying Mantic instead of GW gets wasted again on all the putty I have to buy to… Read more »
I’m looking forward to the Orcs, because they will fit in with my collection of Rackham Orcs.
I use them for RPG and skimirsh games… they look fantastic… those French boys knew how to do things right. 😉
BoW Andy
Your collection of ?
Don’t know? That’s a good question, your collection of what Andy 🙂
See… my computer ignorance is once again my undoing… 🙁
A full stop insead of a pointy bracket and it all goes tits up!
Fixed now though. 😀
BoW Andy
I want to see more pics but if they are decent il be buying a couple of detachments for sure
oooooh gimmeh
Oh Yes 😀 can’t wait
Only thousands? No matter, bring in a few ultramarines. Should be done in an hour or two, bring the bear and pretzels.
At first I meant beer…… but bears and pretzels sound good.
pretty awesome x)
GW’s monopoly is finally getting challenged 😛
I kinda like them. The Rackham feel to them is pretty cool and IMHO you could easilly mix them with GW boys.
