New Gore Rider Green from Mantic!
April 4, 2011 by beerogre
A new green of a greenskin, there must be a pun in there somewhere!
Anyway, take a look at these fantastic shots of the first Gore Rider green from the folks at Mantic.
The new Orc looks pretty ferocious and that heavy polearm or lance looks savage!
The Orc range is coming together nicely and I can't wati to see the final version of the Gore Riders... lets hope they look as good as this green... fingers crossed.

I’m not sure how I feel about Mantic Orcs…. I like everything except the head. Hopefully it wont be too hard to just pop on a head from another range…
I was totally the same way, both with this green and the previous one on foot.
Something about this bald head just doesn’t work for me, the head as a whole seems too elongated especially the jaw.
From the wee video of the infantry sprue though the heads with helmets and hats seem better, and the metal characters have totally stunning heads.
They look a bit monkeyish but overall nice fantasy orcs without the funny GW touch.
Much better than the dwarfs. I think Mantic has some very good looking units like the zombies, the ghoules and now some of the orcs, but some Minis (the dwarfs and the elves) is also really below the average.
This looks very nice. I Know is going to be metal/resin, But would so like it to be proper plastic.
i think they are going to do some plastic sprues as well like their calvary ranges for the elves and undead
Mantic release in metal first. After a while they somtimes move to restic. The plastic resin super models.
You’ll notice the Wraiths have vanished from the webstore. Give it time and restic wraiths will appear.
Restic wraiths are on the way I hear. I also hear from Mantic that the boars are going to start out in Restic, which suggests they may never see production as metals.
These are looking really good even though I’m not generally an orc fan. I find the Mantic stuff to be, again, less cartoony than some competitors.
i am loving the mantic ranges a lot. the abyssal dwarfs are frikkin amazing and these orcs are beautiful. i would have no shame using these guys for a whfb game or anything else. if i was big into whfb, i would try using mantic as much as possible. it would be a hell of a lot cheaper since GW feels necessary to price gauge their customers speaking of which, how would anyone feel about mantic trying to produce a scifi range? i dont want them to try to make a grimdark range like 40k, id love to see their… Read more »
@nova3k: You should pay attention to Mantic around the time of GenCon if my source is correct. It’s a source I would trust.
Like it a lot, a lot more details than the dwarfs, if it ever comes out in plastic I’m buying!
The style of the miniature is good, but the head don’t fits for me. Looks like an Orangutan. To big and to many Teeth.
Spear and shield are great.
I hear a legal action from gw in the distance. Looks good though.
Why? GW Elves ride horses, Mantic Elves ride horses. GW Orcs ride boars, Mantic Orcs ride Boars, no basis for legal action there
Do GW claim IP for orc boar riders?
Orcs invented by Tolkein afaik
Boars invented by God or Darwin depending on how you swing.
If I was God I would sue GW for making Boars without a licence lol
At this rate I will be getting all Mantic armies……. damn them!!!! LOL 😉
I love my Mantic Dwarves and these should pair nicely with them. I can’t wait to get my hands on that spear.
