October 7, 2013 by brennon
If you've been interested in seeing how Golem Arcana plays and you want to get a feel for it then check out a livestream game that is going to be taking place on Twitch.tv at 11am PST. Check out the Kickstarter page too!
Keep an eye out on their twitch channel that we've linked above and then tune in for the action. Seeing this game play live might swing a few of you round to liking it!
The game has been going pretty well with their target within sight. With just a week left I reckon they could hit their target and bring this one to life much like their animated Golems!

So looking forward to checking this one out. I’ve never been an advocate of any form of technological tabletop wargaming. Here’s hoping this one kicks that habit! 😛
Watched it. Looked very cumbersome. Every interaction with the scanner and the tablet looked more awkward and difficult than playing with cards and dice. The only game mechanic that even came close to justifying the technology was the mana/resource stuff. They kept going on and on about how nice it was not to have to keep track of range, like counting squares on a grid is hard or something. Really, after watching it, it looks more and more like a game that should be played on a touchscreen without minis. The minis only make the experience more complicated and slower… Read more »
I could see this maybe being a gateway game for those people who have never played a tabletop game before, like the casual gamers who play light strategy titles on their iPad but would never think of picking up a PC RTS. But for wargamers who are already entrenched in this hobby, this game seems like a huge downgrade.
I don’t feel it that way, played it a couple of times already, mana is not that hard to follow, what’s most important is cooldowns/action points, because every golem have bunch of abilities you need to keep track of. It actualy speeds up the gameplay, you probably can have a medium sized battle in 30min-1h. Video targets not only wargamers but gamers in general, I can see it being interesting for people who love kind of games like FF tactics.
