Oxfordshire based gaming club is going to use the mighty power of gaming for a good cause, raising money in a 48 hour stretch of non-stop Warhammer. This is the Battle for Sophia.

Battle for Sophia

The Battle for Sophia will see the Warhammer Fantasy armies of good and evil engaged in a 48 hour long battle upon a massive 12ft x 4ft board, already covered with lots of terrain, monsters and units. The narrative of the game sees the Warhammer armies split into two sides, battling in the heart of Lustria. Players will game in shifts, making sure no one is about to collapse from too much epic battling, while the game will be kept fresh by random events as the forces of nature effect the game.

But just what is this olympian effort of gaming for? It is to raise money for this little girl.

Sophia Aitken

This is Sophia Aitken, a 2 year old girl who suffers from a form of Cerebral Palsy called Spastic Diplegia. This means that she has spasms and pains in her legs and is unable to walk unaided. However, she can be helped.

The charity Sophia's Stepping Stones is looking to raise £65,000. This will allow Sophia to go to America where she will be able to receive surgery. Along with physiotherapy, this surgery will lessen the pain in Sophia's legs, let her place her feet flat and one day walk independently.

Sophia Helps Deployment

The Battle for Sophia is going to be broadcast live over the web throughout its run, from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th of October. While the battle itself is not open to the public viewers will still be able to interact and effect how it goes. Donations will effect the battle and will trigger special in-game events, as well a special prize draw with prizes donated from companies like OG Games, Element Games, Hollow Tree Studios and Heelan Hammer.

So guys be sure to keep the 25th to the 27th of October clear and tune into the Battle for Sophia to watch some awesome gaming changing a life.
