Will Fractured Dimension’s Paladin’s Faith Work In Hell?
May 4, 2013 by brennon
Fractured Dimension are continuing their line of stunning sculpts with a man of holy work stuck down in the depths of hell. Check out their Paladin in Hell finished sculpt below...
Now all you need to do is grab one of their demons and face him off against them in a deadly diorama duel to the death! A perfect one for next years Salute painting competition perhaps?
I have always had a soft spot for Templars and Holy Warriors in fantasy and historical gaming and so seeing one always gets my shiny syndrome going just a little bit.
What do you think of him?
I’d rather have im to wield proper heraldy instead of the crude fist symbol.
It seems odd that the shield is placed wrong on his wrist. All it needed was a 90 degree turn and it’ll look the part.
We used to have a range of plastic pre painted posable 1/32 figures by a company called Tempo. Some in a very similar pose to this model. Norman kite shields held exactly the same.
Looked odd to me aged 10 years old, and still looks odd to me now.
With it being WIP hopefully they can fix it.
I’m fairly sure he’s not using the shield in a defensive manner lol. It looks a lot more like he’s using it as an extra attacking option. I like it, looks cinematic. Don’t always have to be realistic 😉
Yes it does! 😛
I thought that the shield looked offensive. Not rude I mean like it was being used aggressively! lol
It doesn’t make sense to me inasmuch as it could glance a blow onto the body.
Worse still is that it lacks elegance this way round. A knight has to look pretty with nice shapes. lol
Just google up “paladin in hell”, and you’ll see that the character is loosely based on an illustration from the old D&D books… hence the weird shield position. This really takes me back ! 🙂
You are so right Romain, that explains it all. It’s based on that picture that has the shield wrong but thats old school for you. Its a nice model once you get past that part and even better once you know its paying homage to a classic book cover.
The last demon from Fractured Dimension was similarly inspired by an old D&D illustration, actually.
As usual, the sculpt is very good !
I’m not really bothered my how he has shield when sculpt itself is mostly very good.
I’ll agree with mecha82, sculpt imo is overall very nice.
