Firebellies… too hot to handle!
August 24, 2011 by beerogre
Here it is... hot of the presses... literally!
Check out the rules for the Ogre Kingdoms Firebelly, the brand new model for the stonking new Warhammer Fantasy Battles release from Games Workshop!
So this guy is a fire wizard... that's good! It means the Ogres now have access to another flavour magic that's not the "Great Maw" meat-magic, but what does that mean for the Storm of Magic setting?
If this guy stands on one of those Fulcrums, he's going to be tough to shift. You're going to need to either blast him off with a spell, or send a kick-ass hero to deal with him.
That being said, I'm sure there's probably an option to upgrade this guy to a a higher wizard level for 20 (or so points) and as he's an Ogre, so you can probably give him a great weapon for 2 points or something. Either way, he's combat enabled wizard with 4 wounds... that's going to be pretty tough... then again, he's reasonably expensive for level 1 spell-slinger, but he breathes fire, and that's never a bad thing!
If you haven't seen the new Firebelly model, then you've probably been living under a rock, or may you're not checking our website as often as you should!
Anyway, here's a reminder...
Awesome model and should be fun seeing how this plays on the battlefield. Ogres have always been impressive and one of my friends has been waiting on their update for a looooong time.
Nice to see that yer getting GW scoops lickety split. As for the Firebelly, its does look like he’ll be and insanely tough wizard to shift off a fulcrum, but hopefully its still doable.
I think we all seen him by now, as for me. I’m on your website so often that I post stuff on topics before BoW even has it up. One of these days I might have to enter an addiction centre to help me transition off of your website.
I like this model more than most GW models for reasons I posted in the first thread about them.
Am I the only one that thinks this model is another design that seems to fit right in with He-man characters? At the very least it doesn’t look much to like an Ogre to me.
it looks like a sumo wrestler, which if you see some of the other art on the web is just what the ogres look like. The minis are rather conservative compared to the morbidly obese ogres in the artwork. In a wat i am glad the Tomb Kings and Ogres have been the latest releases as they do nothing for me and help me save my cash.
I love the model, and the smoke effect at the end of the fire is just about as good as it gets in terms of painting, but next to all the rest of the ogres?
Its like it doesnt belong at all, it has nothing in common with the rest of the range , the tattoos sort of mask the bodyshape a bit in that picture, but it really doesnt look like an Ogre at all.
I’m not sure of that matters or not really, but it may look odd on the table.
Hang on, is this an actual official exclusive arranged with GW themselves? If so then great job considering their kinda patchy past relationships with the web.
That mini will be a painting challenge for anyone not in the level of Golden Demon.
I don’t know if I’d call this guy expensive…..120 pts for a versatile 4 wound T5 wizard with a breath weapon and stomp?… Vampire counts and Dark Elves pay 100 points each for naked level 1 wizards. Not complaining….120 pts if fair, but I wouldn’t call him expensive.
Either way, nice to see some stats and points costs! I like the new ogre models and I cant wait to face off against them!!!!
Seems pretty legit. The picture looks like an army book picture.
nice model, bit of a shame ogres now have “normal” magic. first they get rid of the tomb kings magic now the ogres. bang goes individual character of races. go MagicHammer.
From the Storm of Magic supplement, ogres do have their own magic; Lore of the Great Maw. I suspect that this is giving them access to a secondary school like most other lists have. The spells in SoM mention the butcher as the caster as opposed to the firebelly.
I love the artwork piece of the model. The model itself is one of the best GW has put out in a long time (ok, it’s not released yet 🙂 ).
with the new ogres coming out do you think we will see a new army to match their size like a halfling army, who would not love that

All of the new Ogre Kingdom models look gorgeous. I would love to start another army but I have too many as it is now. GW is really raising the bar with their fantasy releases lately. Square base players everywhere rejoice!
Sadly i only have enough money to get the new cavalry, book, and the awesome firebelly. I cant wait till i can buy the stonehorn. I’m not sure if i like bragg or golfag better, i kinda like golfag cause everyone else likes bragg, but i hope there not named characters cause that means they’ll cost tons of money.
