The Fire Dragon Raises Its Mighty Head From ArcWorlde
August 12, 2013 by brennon
If no miniature from the ArcWorlde Kickstarter had you salivating yet then I think this one will. Check out the Fire Dragon Ancient from Warploque. It's awesome!
Now that is a mighty piece of flesh and spines. I love the way this Dragon looks and despite not having any wings it's probably the doom of many an adventurer. I hope that Explorer has some fire resistant clothing!
The ArcWorlde Kickstarter is continuing to impress and with rulebook previews, painted figures and more coming out of the fundraiser it's going to be hard to ignore this skirmish game.
What do you think of the Ancient?

Ok he’s got my attention now…
I told you so ! 🙂
That is one awesome of awesomness dragon that’s for sure.
Do like.
Sadly too many pennies.
My only quibble is with the feet, especially the rear foot.
I would liked to have seen the toes spread and sitting better on the steps
A matter of taste. I think the dragon looks more lizard-like that way, though.
I already own the other dragon this guy did, and he’s just getting better !
It is a minor quibble and possibly just looks awkward (at least to me) because of the camera angle/and or lighting.
Wouldn’t stop me getting one 😀
Sculpt is really nice, I don’t mind about the rear foot so much as much as the absence of…wings. There are none! When I think of a Dragon, I immagine something that can fly on far away and steep mountains. What does this do? Crawl?
Other than that, I really like it, maybe with a bit of conversion work… 🙂
It is technically a wyrm, though they are usually depicted without legs. Dragons with wings are drakes. So if you see one…
duck!
*groan*
@chibi Just to help my own dragonology, so is there no classification of ‘dragon’ only Wyrm or Drake?
This one is technically more of a Linnorm or Lindwurm… Most accounts say that Fafnir, the dragon Siegfried battled, did not have wings.
They are both types of dragon, Warren. A bit like an eagle and an ostrich are both types of bird.
That is one sweet looking wingless dragon.
I’m very particular with my dragons, right now that is just a giant lizard
I refuse to call it a dragon until it grows some wings
But it is a nice looking lizard
I think you’ll find most dragons in myths the world over have no wings at all.
But you’re entitled to your tastes, of course ! I do prefer wings myself, but I think past a certain size and with a certain morphology, dragonhood applies.
I mean, benefit of the doubt, and everything.
It is not about size or real world myths but consistency The fantasy genre and mythology have so many other names we could use instead We have wyverns, basilisks, quetzalcoatls, firelizards, drakes, jabberwocky, lindworm, wyrms, hydras or in this case a Salamander, but nope it is just call it a dragon Dragon is just slapped on anything that is slightly mythological it does not even have to be big, firebreathing or reptilian. There is no consistency in any media and it is driving me rather crazy Personally don’t call anything a dragon unless it has four legs (or two arms… Read more »
“It is not about size or real world myths but consistency”
s’what I keep telling the mythuss.
She says the consistency is too much like Play-Doh 🙁
