Fat Dragon Returns to Kickstarter To Build the Village of Ravenfell
January 14, 2014 by dracs
Fat Dragon Games will be returning once again to the mystical lands of Kickstarter to fund their next set of printable paper terrain simply named Ravenfell.
Judging from this preview image we can expect a dark fantasy town, the sort of medieval adventuring setting that heroes might gather in to find quests.
While I am excited to see how this new set will shape up I am actually more excited by some of the speculation going on in Fat Dragon's forum. People have been asking that Baba Yaga's famous chicken legged cottage be a stretch goal and Fat Dragon have apparently assented to the will of the masses. I want a paper Baba Yaga's cottage!
Will you dare venture to Ravenfell? Is there anything in particular you would like to see appearing in the campaign?

Interesting. 🙂
May I ask who Baba Yaga is, the name is familiar but I can’t figure out where I heard it. :/
She’s a figure in Eastern European folklore.
Baba Yaga is possibly the most well figure of Russian and East European folklore. She’s a witch with iron teeth who flies around the woods in a pestle and mortar. She is known to eat people, especially children, and will either help or hinder the hero of whatever story she is a part of. She lives in a wooden cabin mounted on chicken legs and surrounded by a fence made of bones.
A chicken-legged house? And this is real folklore or did T Prachett had a hand in this?!
Real folklore.
Pratchett is well known to draw upon real folklore. I believe you’re probably referring to Witches Abroad in which the character Mrs Gogol does live in a house on chicken legs. He also references voodoo loa, especially Baron Samedi, and the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Definitely check out Folklore of the Discworld which he co-wrote with folklore scholar Jacqueline Simpson.
Good tip, thanks for that!
I hope the chicken legged house comes to be. That be awesome!
