Drink Sigmar’s Blood In Warhammer Fantasy Expansion
December 7, 2013 by brennon
Throwing a little love Warhammer Fantasy's way Games Workshop have put together a campaign book come sourcebook that adds an entirely new event to the timeline of the Old World. Drink some of Sigmar's Blood...
This book follows the exploits of Volkmar the Grim before the Storm of Chaos rained down from the North. He is instead leading a crusade into the lands of Sylvania in an effort to stop the nefarious plans of Mannfred Von Carstein as he himself plans to drown the Empire in a tidal wave of blood.
You have a number of different choices here with either the basic Sigmar's Blood book, a Collectors Edition, or if you just want the story the Novella itself.
To mark the occasion they have also put together two large armies from both the Empire and the Vampire Counts so you can fight this battle out in epic style. Of course when it comes to Games Workshop none of this comes cheap, but it's nice to see that they are continuing to pursue this narrative feel with their games.
As I've mentioned on more than one occasion the Warhammer world, to me, is a lot better than the Warhammer 40,000 one and while it has taken a few hits in the past fluff wise I think it has a lot of richness to draw on. I might find myself picking up the novella if nothing else just to see how this all pans out.
What do you think?

Warhammer fantasy has always been my game of choice, for a lot of reasons, and its great to see its not been abandoned and is finally moving forward. This also makes me hope that the rumored 9th edition may expand on new story lines even more rather then GW’s tendencies of late to pull a Marvel, and simply re write cannon and background with every rule set… Read more »
