Help DGS Games Fund Their Falkarran Adventurers
June 14, 2013 by brennon
DGS Games have been working on their Freeblades game for a while now and they are moving onto Kickstarter in order to build up new Falkarran miniatures for the tabletop...
Above are three of the models that have been sculpted so far. Each of them has character of their own and specialises in some way on the field of battle. I think my favourite of the three above has to be the Knight Defender simply because the old Sword N' Board combination is hard to deny.
The Freeblade line as a whole has some fun miniatures in it with plenty of original ideas. If you're not a fan of the game itself however you could always find a miniature that would be awesome for your role-playing needs.
That's another reason why I like the Knight Defender. He would be a perfect Fighter or Paladin for a game like D&D.
Have you played Freeblades?

Those are all great looking sculpts. That Sailor’s anchor rope is nice touch.
Now, THAT I want to see cast !
Very much like
Visited the site and they have some sculpts that look very good.
Hurrah for real scale says I!
Only thing is they need Romain to paint for them. 😉
The painted figures look a tad rough but judging the quality of the sculpts I think the painting lets them down a bit
Great figures. Would have liked to see a neck strap on the pikeman to hold the shield in place, Macedonian style, but that’s a minor quibble.
There are some excellent sculpts on the site, but real hit-and-miss. There are some real stinkers there too, and some strange poses. I agree that they need someone (Romain) to paint up a few to show them off better.
Chibi, I thought you were a dedicated 25mm advocate. Aren’t these 32mm?
Not really I like 28-32mm tbh an but the important thing for me is the proportion.
I much prefer true scale for this reason. It is an aesthetic thing.
Can appreciate heroic scale but it can look too clumsy and awkward for my gentile tastes! lol
I do like Red Box and the LOTR figures by the Perrys a great deal though
Ultimately it comes down to quality and a sense of internal logic.
Freebooters for example have large stylised heads but they “look right” to me.
Also trying to sculpt even at 28mm is bloody hard! lol
