Miss Demeanor from Wyrd Miniatures… new for GenCon!
July 12, 2011 by beerogre
If you're lucky enough to be going to GenCon and you have a hole burning in your pocket that can only be extinguished by the purchase of Malifaux miniatres. Then if you make an order for $100 of more with the guys from Wyrd Miniatures, you'll receive the limited edition Miss Demeanor, female convict model!
Hopefully the nice guys at Wyrd won't leave the rest of us in the lurch and we'll be able to pick up this model (or a resculpt of her) at some point... but if you want to be sure you get one... you know what you need to do!

The painting on her skin is very nice. Apart from that I’m uninspired. Maybe I’m just feeling grumpy this morning.
Grumpy or not, I agree. Nice paint job but very static pose and not too keen on the detailing either. Malifaux range is cool and quirky but they’ve never really been all that dynamic. Perhaps they need to start stepping things up a bit? Very cool ideas some of their stuff but I’d like to see more dynamism.
The style really doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of the Malifaux range. She looks a little too modern, especially her clothing (what little there is of it).
I’m not sure how those guns are supposed to fit into her thigh holsters, either.
She lubes ’em.
Or they (magically) get bigger when she takes ’em in her hands.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Tomb Raider?
I like this mini. I also like the WYRD / MALIFAUX range alot. Not sure i would play the game until i see a tutorial or the game being played but i would deffo buy and paint a few of the minis for fun.
Here’s a demo of the game from GenCon 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCVHp8ZFZPg
I think some of the rules might have been tweaked since then, but it’s a start.
This is a nice run through of a game designed to show how to play it. http://youtu.be/zTtHRBol8OA
quite static looking figure, not to say …boring.
Most Malifaux figures are great sculpts, sadly this one is kinda meh.
Have to agree
These guys are usually very imaginative.
I don’t worry too much about whether a pose is static or not. The model on that base still has a sense of narrative. Poise and proportions are more important in my reckoning.
But while, like most blokes, am not averse to seeing a comely lass in hot pants, it is too much of a cliche for female adventurer minis imho
What he said.
I can see how it is a charicature of the male convict gunslinger. They have similar poses, only his stance is more reserved. I like the mini but don’t think I’d go out of my way to give Wyrd 100 bucks for it (even though I will be trying to get a Dead Justice set). Compared to the recent Desperate Merc minis, she has way less character.
She also might look good painted in a more dramatic way. The mini’s face isn’t really visible in the photo either.
All GenCon exclusives will be available on Wyrd’s web store during GenCon. Buy $100 in stuff, get a free Miss Demeanor. [$8 shipping to the US I think]
