Let’s look at the Core Units for Orcs & Goblins

Like Gork and Mork, Darrell and Warren survey the rank and file infantry of the new Orcs & Goblins Army Book from Games Workshop... what will their verdict be? Will the boyz be considered worthy?
I think you underestimate killing blow guys. Against enemies like Chaos Warriors and other heavily armoured/expensive infantry they can be really good turning the combat resolution in your favour.
Goblin Spider Riders, according to my book, does not cause fear. And Killing Blow is on a Hit roll of a 6, so with three Skulkers, chances are you gonna kill someone.
the fear is of the gigantic spider
Yeah, Gigantic, not Giant…?
Well…the orc and goblins army have a lot of different units to choose…three thinks about your video: the regular orc witgh shields have parry and a 5+ armor for 7 point…not bad the frenzy can be controlled with a BSB so is not a big problem….but I think is with the shaman and the skull when the unit becomes a killing machine 5+ ward!!! the night goblins I think is the best unit!!! 3 point with spear…deploy 100 night goblins with netters and your unit is gonna hurt all the game…or a couple of 30 or 40 with three fanatics… Read more »
Frenzy isn’t too bad if you consider that it also makes your unit immune to psychology. Ld 7 isn’t amazing so being able to avoid psychology tests is a bit of a boost for O&G. Helps vs. fear and terror and keeps your guys in game if they happen to get shot to pieces….or hit by a spell that’ll wipe out half your unit. Also helps vs. spells like treason of tzeentch. Not sure if I’m a big fan of arrow boys. Bs3 is not fantastic…certainly not as reliable as CC orcs…but the price makes them attractive. Dont underestimate the… Read more »
Uhhhhh I think your fascination with 2 chppas is a bit unfounded. You only get the second attack in the front rank not the support rank attacks, so you only get a few extra attacks vs a 6 + WS. And that is given you are fighting something else hoarded up.
I agree, surely the way to go with ordinary boyz is hand weapon + shield. Make a tarpit instead of a poor linebreaker!
agreed.
Tarpitting FTW 🙂
Not much has seemed to have changed from the last book with the green ones… so far. Gonna watch the other vids and see what else is out there, but so far I think Darrell is right in his assessment of arrer-boys over regular… or the rise of the shooty O&G. Something I saw with the release of 8th rules. A screen of night goblins with short bows and fanatics backed by arrer boys. Rock Lobbers and Doom Diver catapults with maybe a few Spear Chuckers… wolves, always a favorite, as usual great flankers… and a few Black orcs for… Read more »
Actually the choppa rules apply to all weapons that orcs use: spears, Handweapons and great weapons. therefore spears are a great buy.
I remember a Citadel Journal article about making an all-goblin army feasible on the table. It looked like fun, but heavy on the old crown of command. Wonder if it would still work?
I have had my vampire lord killed by a asty skulker
