Confrontation… the Video Game!
December 8, 2011 by beerogre
Based on the universe created by Rackham, check out the teaser video for the new Confrontation video game!
Here's what the creators of the game have to say:
The game is set in the fantastic and original universe of Confrontation, Aarklash. As the Age of Rag'narok is approaching, you will take the lead of a troup of elite Griffin warriors infiltrating enemy territory in order to bring an end to the Scorpion threat. During their journey, they will have to face numerous threats, such as the fearsome creatures of the Alchemists of Dirz, the brutal Orcs of Bran-O-Kor, or the ferocious Wolfen pack. The route will be full of danger before they reach their destination in the depths of the Scorpion’s lands.
You will have to astutely lead and develop your squad, in order to obtain victory. Develop the soldiers and creatures that will fight by your side, and establish sharp tactics to annihilate your enemies! Careful management of your units, their powers and skills, as well as clever use of your environment will get you through near-death situations and lead you to epic victory!
Confrontation also shines in multiplayer. Choose the faction you’ll side with: Griffin, Scorpion, Wolfen or Orc, and battle other players' elite squads from all around the globe. Level up, unlock new units, and claim supremacy on the battlefields!

Hmm, looks ok but would be wanting to see more gameplay stuff first. Nice teaser though. Another reservation is that its by Cyanide Studios who did the Blood Bowl game if I’m not mistaken – and that was a bit of a flop, at least in its first iteration.
Pretty much everyone I know that video games and/or enjoys the hobby in general loves the Bloodbowl PC game. It also sparks a big reinterest in running original BB gaming among gaming groups from what I have experienced…
Yeah the PC game was fine, but the Xbox 360 game was an utter pile of…well, you get me. And the first iteration of the game didn’t even come with the complete roster of teams, and had to wait for a Legendary version to get everything that that should have been in it.
Looks bad and the I can’t help but think the cam’s shakey to hide the unpolished finish … hope Cyanide learns from their mistakes. I love Arklash as a background too much, to see it milked without much regard to its depth and breadth. As it is, it looks aimed at the MMORPG crowd, which means nothing per se, but usually … ah well. Let’s wait and see.
+1 on all of that. The potential in Aarklash is way bigger then in most existing fantasy universes, hope they don’t let us down.
Hmmmmm not so good looking, but i hope has good gameplay. 🙁 I miss Confrontation and AT-43.
This game isn’t the best out and about but it’s not the worst ether.
The more I think about it, the best format for a Confrontation game would be a MMORPG like the WoW game.
I don’t understand why they always have to animate characters heaving so much to show their breathing when they’re at rest…
It’s the heaving lungs of a stationary rage fuelled killing machine at work!
Paint mini’s, play vidoe game…? Paint mini’s, play video game…? Paint mini’s, play video game…?
Tradeoff’s are a b*tch.
Em no, it does not look good, it looks unpolished and outdated, if they want to succeed, they need more polish and deliver more “Oomph”.
Sadly, this looks like more of a money grab using the Confrontation brand than a legit game.
I have not played confrontation but used to stare at the studio figs and watch a few games being played. The creatures in here look like the Confrontation stuff if drawn by the Blizzard artists. It doesn’t give me the same visual style vibe as the Confrontation figs and game seems to make me think off. The units move too much like the engine that runs Dawn of War. Just seems off all the way around. Did Cyanide Studios lose the rights to do Blood Bowl and they just drove over to a different mini’s company?
bring back C3
This is a bulls@it…. one of the thousands of the same ‘rpg’, ‘strategy’ piece of sh@ts. we are full of the same idiotic 3D, brutalic, sadistic big muscled POLYGON monsters who are roaming into the night to kill, kill, kill with primitive hack n’ slash animation. What the f@@k? That’s why I’ve not played PC games for the last six years. That’s why boardgames and miniature games are on the top in these days.. Honestly I haven’t felt the same Confrontation feeling which could be found in a Rackham Catalog from 2005.
Kinda funny that they kept the original proportions for the orcs. They truly look like blood of the Jackal with those puny legs. 😛
The graphics are not exceptionnal but they’re decent. People who criticise this aspect of the game probably play on top notch gaming machines. I am not and I don’t like being “forced” to change or upgrade my PC every year to be able to buy the latest hotest astounding 3d game around. Someone mentionned Blizzard, and, yes their graphics are not exceptionnal and are a bit cartoonish but they’re decent and they did not prevent WoW to be a success. I played WoW during 3 years without having to change my PC and it was an average quality computer not… Read more »
^^ Agree with this entirely, graphics are not the be all and end all of games, especially on PC where not everyone can run it at high def levels. Plenty of games get by on decent graphics (which I think these are) if they have another hook like great storyline, multiplayer, replayability etc. Hell one of my fav pc games uses sprites with no walking animations lol
The graphics are variable, some things look pretty good, some look dire (the wolfen all look rubbish), but the animations are terrible. The animations look like they’re out of something ancient like Warcraft 3, and that completely ruins the visual presentation. Especially when you have the run animations all the same and all playing in sync (which is a big no-no in terms of making things look natural) On the other hand, after their bodge job of the Xbox version of Blood Bowl, which was all caused by their incompetence at programming for the platform (they blame memory constraints, but… Read more »
I think some of you guys that play games a lot are jaded. I don’t play hardly any video games so to me this looks fantastic.
The game looks ok…apart from all the asthma attack animation…Hope to see more and also if done right may bring cool world to a larger base
